Description of the job

Airbus Safran Launchers (Les Mureaux) is looking for an intern for a 6-month internship.

Within the civil vehicle engineering department, the vehicle pre-project Design Office is in charge of the design and justification of future space launchers and orbital vehicles.
In this respect, the Design Office designs an overall architecture, estimates or evaluates mechanical loads, and designs and (pre-)dimensions the structures of various vehicles.
Over the coming months, the challenges for the department will be to prepare for the evolutions of the Ariane 6 launch vehicle and ensure the availability of the European Service Module (ESM) for the American MPCV vehicle.
In parallel, the department is working to design increasingly innovative launch vehicles, to reach maturity by 2035, in an industrial context which is more and more competitive.
During your internship, you will be expected to interact with a number of different people within a team, and also with employees from other sectors.

This internship will start on 1st March 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks will include:

·  Researching and analysing the launch vehicle architectures which already exist in Europe and worldwide
·  Selecting and designing an innovative launch vehicle which breaks away from current technologies
·  Producing a detailed design for a mechanical sub-system specific to the selected concept
·  Adapting Design Office tools to the needs of the project

Required skills

You are in the final year of engineering school, completing a Master's degree or at university (5th year), specialising in Engineering/Mechanical Engineering.

You ideally have initial professional experience.
You have skills or training in mechanical design and CAD.

You have the following qualities:

·  Basic knowledge of stress analysis for structures and materials
·  Knowledge of aeronautical and space vehicles

You are a good team player and have excellent interpersonal skills.

English: advanced level
French: advanced level
