Description of the job

Airbus Toulouse is looking for an intern for 6-month internship.

Take control of the aircraft and of your future career by joining the Modelling and Simulation team in Systems Engineering! We deliver real time simulation of the complete aircraft for design engineers, test engineers, suppliers and pilots. We bring our knowledge of the aircraft and strong, in-house technical expertise in software and hardware development to provide state-of-the-art simulation.
Whether for troubleshooting the in-service aircraft, building the iron bird or prototyping the cockpit of the future, we offer tailored solutions to all aircraft programmes. Join our dynamic, close-knit community, with links extending across the Airbus Group, to get a grip on the complete aircraft and to boost your skills and network for the future. Tasks & accountabilities

As trainee, you will be in charge of a study dedicated to the future of our Simulation Runtime Environment (SRE) software. The SRE is a set of software components which is offering generic services (like scheduling, communication, monitoring & control HMI) to aircraft systems models embedded in real time flight simulators (hardware in the loop simulators and desktop simulators). The goal of this study is to determine the possibility to embed our flight simulation applications running on our SRE in Linux and Windows containers (LXC, Docker...).

These containers are very light virtual machines which should help us to deploy much more easily our simulations in the various IT infrastructures of our customers.

In this context you will have to:

·  Collecting and refining Airbus needs,
·  Specifying, designing and mocking up of the solution with a complete real time flight simulation application (high computing real time application currently hosted on several Windows an Linux PCs),
·  Testing the performances of the solution in various environments and comparing these performances to our current implementations without containers,
·  Determining the limitations of the solution and proposing workaround,
·  Proposing a way forward for the industrialization of the solution,
·  Organizing (planning, risks management...) and monitoring (TCQP) the activities.

Required skills

You are in the 2nd year of a master's or the 5th year of engineering school, university or equivalent specialising in Information Technology.
You ideally have an initial experience.

You have knowledge of Teamwork capabilities and Software skills:

·  C++,C,
·  Python, XML,
·  Real Time Software (in a multi core, multi process, multi thread environment),
·  Network stack,
·  Linux, Windows environments,
·  Virtual machines.

You are a strong team player and have excellent interpersonal skills.

English: Negotiation level,
French: Negotiation level.
