Description of the job
An internship in Cockpit Virtual Assistant Prototyping (m/f) has arisen within Airbus in Toulouse. You will join the Emerging Technologies & Concepts FR&UK department.
The Airbus Emerging Technologies and Concepts department develops innovative projects in the pilot/cockpit integration field or pilot/aircraft interaction operations more broadly. The strategic objective of this project line is essentially to design pilot aids, for varied flight situations, which will provide additional information compared to what the nominal aircraft supplies. These pilot aids can be based on diverse technologies, well-known or highly innovative (particularly concerning artificial intelligence or big data).
This internship will start in February 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities
Since the projects are by definition agile projects for rapid prototyping, it is difficult to give the exact focus of the internship at this stage.
However, the general nature of the activities will be as follows:
* Identifying an operational aircraft use case
* Identifying innovative avenues which could make a contribution of significant value for the mission and the pilot
* Identifying potential technological solutions, evaluating and selecting them
* Producing a rapid "concept of proof" prototype (standalone or coupled to a simulation database)
* Having it evaluated by the various internal stakeholders suitable for the topic (e.g. pilots, test engineers, systems designers, crew training, etc.).
This type of project will offer you the rare possibility of, for a very short period of time (duration of a final year internship): tackling a complex issue, providing the first elements of a technical solution, and demonstrate this solution using rapid prototyping.

· 2nd year of a Master's degree or 5th year at a university or engineering school, specialising in Systems Engineering
