Internship / CAD Model Sensitivity Analysis (m/f)
Airbus Group Innovations Suresnes
Airbus Group is a global leader in aeronautics, space and related services. In 2015, the Group - comprising Airbus, Airbus Defence and Space and Airbus Helicopters - generated revenues of € 64.5 billion and employed a workforce of around 136,600.
Our people work with passion and determination to make the world a more connected, safer and smarter place. Taking pride in our work, we draw on each other's expertise and experience to achieve excellence. Our diversity and teamwork culture propel us to accomplish the extraordinary - on the ground, in the sky and in space.
Description of the job
Airbus Group Innovations (Suresnes) is looking for an intern for a 6-month internship.
Within the context of its research activities, Airbus Group Innovations contributes to the development of aeronautical shape optimisation chains (aircraft wings, blade profiles, complete aircraft configuration). These chains are implemented using CAD software (CATIA, Padge), meshers, CFD solvers and optimisation environments.
This internship will focus on the geometric aspect of optimisation (CAD + meshing). An initial prototype, based on CATIA, has been introduced in order to evaluate the sensitivities of geometric shapes in relation to their design parameters (sensitivity of the surface in relation to the geometric parameters handled in CATIA: diameter of a hole, height of a shoulder). This prototype is based on the finite difference principle. The CAD software (CATIA) is therefore considered as a black box and a method of successive modifications (infinitesimal) of each parameter is implemented in order to evaluate the gradients.
This internship will start on 1st February 2016 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
· Improving and completing the existing prototype,
· Identifying the limits of this initial prototype (gradient accuracy, difficulties linked to the complexity of the geometric shapes handled),
· Proposing and implementing solutions to correct its limits and to make the approach as generic and robust as possible.
According to the results obtained, this work may be extended to the meshing section (generation and evaluation of gradients). The codes will be developed in a Windows and Linus environment
