Description of the job

Airbus (Toulouse) is looking for an intern (m/f) for a 6-month internship.

This internship will take place within the EYY area, of which one of the missions, as part of the mission concerning the internal electronic reference chamber at Airbus, is to develop avionics products or functions (applications). These products must meet specific constraints that are technical, industrial, as well as operational, such as dependability, data security and performance and costs. EYY also ensures the follow-up and provides in-service support to airline companies, as well as for the repair of designed equipment.

During the development cycle of avionics products, EYYAS ensures the role of the product architect, which consists in defining and designing a product that is the result of a multi-criteria optimisation: technical, business and operational.

Continuous improvement requires exploring new ways in order to have the best performances, while reducing cycle times and costs in terms of design, manufacturing or maintenance. Follow-up data of the behaviour of in-service equipment are recorded in the occurrence of a malfunction or a continuous monitoring of the modifications of pertinent parameters. The information originates from several sources (customer support, A/C centralised maintenance system, internal data of equipment, etc.) and can be in various formats.

Within the Avionics product development (EYYA) department, you will be in charge of working on the analysis of exploitation data, interpreting the results and drawing up operational conclusions.

This internship will start on 1st February 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks will include:

·  Characterising events to provide elements that will aid in the determination of root causes of failures (event correlation/in-service conditions, research of failure signature/performance deterioration, etc.)
·  Determining performance margins over time and according to in-service conditions
·  Analysing feedback for a better control of reliability and the scheduling of preventive maintenance (extrapolation of the evolution of the nominal behaviour of the equipment)

The aim of the internship will be to propose an analysis and processing method and specify a data exploitation tool:

·  Understanding the available data
·  Defining behaviour signature research objectives to be detected and traced
·  Working on processing algorithms in order to research events to be detected (including random search algorithms)

A demonstrator will implement the method on concrete cases in order to validate its pertinence.

Required skills

You are in the final year of engineering school or a Master's degree or in the 5th year of university, specialising in IT Engineering, Mathematics Engineering, Statistics, Simulation, Data Analysis and Processing.

Knowledge of solutions and tools to aid statistical analysis would be a plus, as well as knowledge of tools, such as Python, R, Excel, Visual Basic, SciLab, etc. to create the mock-up of a demonstrator.
Knowledge of electronic industrial product constraints would be a plus.

You ideally have initial experience in this field.

You are recognised for your force of proposals, as well as your analytical and synthesis skills. You are also meticulous, independent and organised.

You are a team player and you have excellent interpersonal skills.
