Description of the job

Airbus Toulouse is looking for an intern for a 6-month internship.
You will belong to the Aircraft Failure Diagnosis & Predictive Maintenance domain (SBO6) within Airbus. This domain is in
charge of developing solutions that enable the Airlines to ease and optimize their daily operations and to improve the operational
availability of aircrafts.
Objectives: This internship will take place in the frame of new statistical technics exploration in the processing of large amount of
health data collected from aircraft.
1. The first objective of this internship is to study recent papers addressing PHM (Prognostics and Health Management).
You will do a summary of applicable techniques that can be experimented on aircraft data in the frame of aircraft fleet real-time
health monitoring.
In this first phase, you will also learn about the Airbus context of Big Data for aircraft maintenance.
2. From this bibliographic summary, the second objective of this internship is to mock-up new data mining and machine learning
algorithms and to apply them on a set of real aircraft data. This second step will assess the performances of these algorithms,
particularly to trigger interesting precursors enabling aircraft preventive maintenance.
3. Finally, you will have the opportunity to test and validate the algorithms on real-time aircraft data. This last step will enable to
demonstrate the characteristics of these innovative algorithms to support services for preventive maintenance (i.e. anticipation of
failure or unavailability, identification of precursors).
You will continuously work with people involved in the real-time Airbus service, people from Airbus Group Innovation, and people
from Airbus Design Office.
This internship will start on 1st September 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Profil recherché

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main mission will include:

·  Gaining knowledge of aircraft maintenance and associated data received from aircraft fleet from on-board systems to ground,

through the Centralized Maintenance System and the Aircraft Condition Monitoring System.

·  Gaining knowledge of last significant technics used in the frame of Data Mining and PHM (Prognostics and Health

Management).

·  Drawing up a comparative summary of the most interesting techniques (statistical techniques, clustering, machine learning,

etc.) to experiment on Airbus data.

·  In a next step, after having elected one technic to explore with the rest of Airbus team, mocking-up algorithms and testing them

off-line. This step will end on the analysis of performances, assets and limitations of the innovative algorithm.

·  Finally, from the last step and with real-time data (in-line), testing and validating the innovative algorithm on aircraft fleet (big)

data.

·  At the end of your internship, all lessons learnt and outlooks will be compiled in the internship report.

Required skills

You are studying a Bac+5 degree / Master of Science degree (Master 2) or equivalent (University or Ecole d'Ingénieurs).
You ideally have initial experience in the domain and you have mechanical skills.
You have following skills in:

·  Computer Science (Algorithms),
·  Data Analytics (Collection, Cleaning, Clustering, etc.),
·  Database (SQL, XML or Graph database).

English: advanced level,
French: fluent.
