Description of the job

Airbus Toulouse is looking for an intern for 3-month internship.

Aircraft can strike obstacles (buildings, other aircraft) when maneuvering on ground. These events, although rare, have a strong impact.
The study aims at initiating a data base with all known events, to record the various types of events, and also the impact.
The aim is to be able to assess the interest of design solutions (based on cameras or radars) and elaborate business cases.

More precisely, the database will enable:

·  To categorize the events,
·  To assess the cost of the events for the Airline,
·  To list which kind of design solutions could have been efficient.

This internship will start on 1st October 2016 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks will include:

·  Identifying the various types of events and classifying them,
·  Creating a cost model,
·  Writing an event description for each type, with sizing characteristics,
·  Analyzing public or in-house incidents databases to extract the ones occurring on ground,
·  Creating the database,
·  Populating the database.

This study will enable to support design decisions for Airbus aircraft.

Required skills

You are in the 2nd year of a master's or the 5th year of engineering school, university or equivalent specialising in Systems Engineering.

You ideally have an initial experience.

You are a strong team player and have excellent interpersonal skills.

You shall have the following abilities:

·  General aeronautical knowledge,
·  Computer science knowledge,
·  Autonomy and good synthesis capacity.

English: Advanced level,
French: Fluent level.
