Description of the job

A vacancy for an Instrumentation Systems Engineer for Flight Test Installation (m/f) has arisen within Airbus in Toulouse.

You will be responsible for the development, support and operational maintenance of acquisition, stimuli injection and storage systems in the perimeter of flight test means.
For development, you will have the role of a project manager. You will be accountable for the delivery of a product following the development process (from call for tender to V&V).
For support, you will provide an end-to-end operational support to customers on equipment under your responsibility.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
Responsibilities linked to the instrumentation test means development life-cycle (end to end):

·  Leading the project ( project manager role)
·  Gathering the needs with internal customers
·  Delivering a Proof of concept prototype
·  Launching a call for tender and study the technical proposals
·  Preparing the supplier's selection dossier with the procurement team
·  Following the development with the supplier
·  Defining and performing the V&V plan
·  Reporting to a steering committee
·  Providing KPIs to show the progress of every current development.
·  Preparing the training activities

Responsibilities linked to the system management in operation

·  Ensuring means of communication with Customers for what remain to do.
·  Working in conjunction with the Aircraft Maintenance team to analyse the scenarios of failure and identify the most agile, feasible, time saving solutions tailored to Customers' requests.
·  Ensure spares availability regarding to Airbus flight test campaigns.
·  Supporting the architecture validation of the flight test installation before starting the manufacturing activity.
·  Teaching and supporting our customers using test means.

This role will involve some business travels and as such, you should be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to Master level (or equivalent) in Engineering or related discipline.
·  Experience in digital and analogic electronics with a significant background in Hardware and Software development.
·  Good knowledge on real time and embedded systems: power supply, latency, bandwidth, sampling, accuracy, time stamping, data collection synchronization and storage.
·  Awareness in testing with the associated requirements in term of performances, accuracy, reliability and robustness.
·  Passionate about the network of internet of things, Big data, open hardware (Raspberry, Arduino, Edison,…) and smart objects (MANDATORY).
·  Knowledge/experience in various digital aircraft buses: Arinc 429, AFDX, RS422/432, CAN and 1553.
·  Knowledge/experience in communication modes on wired connections (i.e.: Ethernet, Power Over Ethernet, PTP 1588, CPL) and in data storage (i.e.: NAS, media technology)
·  Experience in wireless sensor networks and wireless protocol communication (i.e.: WIFI, Ultra wideband, ZigBee, SigFox, Laura, 6LowPan…).
·  Knowledge of aeronautical development constraints: DO160, ABD100.
·  Experience in software languages: Shell, C, Python…
·  Good presentation and negotiation skills.
·  Successful experience in verification and validation systems with an appropriate level of communication to give visibility on development progress.
·  High interest/experience in working with high tech and highly integrated electronic systems.
·  Highly concerned by Customer Services and service-focused.
·  Good co-ordination and relational skills to deal with various stakeholders: internal customers, design offices, suppliers and other Airbus departments.
·  Sense of innovation, tenacious, adaptable, agile, flexible and team player.
·  Available for troubleshooting on aircrafts.
·  A negotiation level in English is mandatory
