Description of the job

Within the Civil Vehicle & Platform Engineering department, in the Operations division, the Structural Dynamics team contributes to the development and qualification of the Ariane 5 and Ariane 6 launchers, by:

·  defining, computing and justifying the dynamic mechanical loads on both the launcher structures and the payload,
·  determining the structural Eigen modes of the launcher, for the tuning of the filters which ensure the proper control of the flight by the on-board computer,
·  justifying the stability of the launcher against the structures/hydraulic/propulsion coupling (POGO phenomenon).

The team is also responsible for the maintenance in operational conditions of all in-service Ariane 5 versions in the field of the low frequency dynamic environments, through the verification:

·  of the flightworthiness of the payloads before each mission (dynamic coupled loads analysis),
·  of the qualification status of the launcher,
·  that the prediction methods are appropriate, throught post-flight analysis.

You will report to the Head of the Structural Dynamics section.

Tasks & accountabilities

In terms of responsibilities, you will:

·  to bring a technical support to the Ariane Production Programmes in the field of the Structural Dynamics, in collaboration with the other team members,
·  to enforce the team's competences in analysis / synthesis in the low frequency dynamic mechanical loads area. This mission will allow you to acquire a wide vision of the vibratory mechanical phenomena induced during the Ariane launchers missions,
·  to perform the dynamic analyses aiming at verifying the flightworthiness of the payloads which will be put into orbit by the Ariane 5 vehicle, including the instruction of the waivers,
·  to perform the dynamic analysis necessary to ensure the qualification of the Ariane 5 vehicle in the low frequency dynamics field.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to Engineering level (or equivalent)
·  Have a strong sense for quality and rigour,
·  Understand the objectives of the submitted tasks (nature of the problem),
·  Analyse the physical phenomena (determination of the main parameters of the problem),
·  Deeply understand the modeling of the problems (building or adaptation of FE models) and chose the resolution methods (harmonic, transient, random),
·  Analyze and synthesize the results (including statistical post-processing),
·  Steer sub-contracted activities.
·  English advanced
