Description of the job

A vacancy for an Image based navigation system engineer has arisen within Airbus in Toulouse.

The successful candidate will join the navigation design office department.

New operational requirements leads to open-up the list of navigation sensors beyond the typically used ones such as inertia or GPS. Image-based sensor is one of them and we would like to offer an opportunity to develop this competence within our department in order to develop future navigation capabilities.

By bringing his competences in image processing for real time critical systems, the candidate will be involved during the overall navigation function and systems design cycles.

Tasks & accountabilities

Integrated in a multi-disciplinary team (navigation, radionavigation, guidance, surveillance) the candidate will:

·  Contribute to define and validate the functional architecture and the system requirements in collaboration with other systems and operations specialists
·  Develop the systems in partnership with our suppliers, contributing to ensure adherence to Time, Costs, Quality and Performance targets.
·  Be responsible for the verification, integration and certification of the product at aircraft level in coordination with laboratory and flight tests departments as well as certification specialists.

The candidate will involve and will develop synergies with all the actors inside the group and partners (academic, industrial, state) outside the group.

The candidate will be able to interact on this subject at high level with Airworthiness Authorities, Aircraft Programs and Operations as well as at lower level on technical detailed deisgn in order to perform trade-offs in the best interests of Airbus.

The candidate will be able to develop or to supervise development of simulation tools to assess performance, assess maturity through prototyping or perform trade-offs between technical choices and interact with other systems, interfaced with the image-based sensors, that develop similar prototypes.

Required skills

As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following skills and competencies:

·  Degree in General Engineering, or Image and signal processing or a related discipline.
·  At least 5 years of experience in image processing
·  Experience in the development of automous vehicules or robots
·  Aeronautical experience could be a plus
·  Agility, creativity, autonomy,
·  Multitasking
·  Good communication skills
·  Ability to evolve in a transnational team and/or context
·  An advanced level of English is required
