Description of the job

A vacancy for a Handling Qualities Specialist has arisen within Airbus to be based on the Toulouse site in France. You will join
the Handling Qualities Department.
Under the supervision of a work package leader, the jobholder will join Airbus' Design Office ; one of Airbus' core businesses.

After a familiarisation period within the department, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn and develop strong working relationships with colleagues from various teams.

Tasks & accountabilities

As the successful candidate your main activities will include:

·  Handling Qualities analysis as required for New development aircraft, Serial programmes (Flight domain definition, Failure

cases analysis, Aircraft control
surface sizing and validation, etc)

·  Prepare Handling quality inputs for aircraft certification and continued airworthiness (eg. incident analysis)
·  Contribute to aircraft safety assessment and safety improvement initiatives
·  Contribute to lessons learned, continuous process and competence improvement within the team and with key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn and develop strong working relationships with colleagues from various teams (Aircraft programmes,
Aircraft systems, Flight test, lab/simulator test, Flight Physics, Customer support, etc).

Required skills

As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following skills and competencies:

¤ Degree in aeronautical engineering / mechanical engineering (or equivalent)
¤ 3 to 5 years of experience in the required domain.
¤ Flight Dynamics knowledge
¤ Test and/or Flight Physics knowledge
¤ Aircraft systems knowledge would be a plus.
¤ Piloting experience would be apreciated.
¤ Good communication skills and a pro-active approach to problem solving
¤ The ability to work to strict timescales as part of an integrated, multidiscipline team
¤ Proactive, problem solving and decision making
¤ Assertiveness
¤ An advanced level of English is required
¤ An intermediate level of French is required, with willingness to strenghen the level.
