Description of the job

Within the « Civil Vehicles & Platform Engineering » Department, the « Mechanical Loads & Sizing » Section (JOVM12) is in charge :

·  of defining the mechanical environment at launcher and payload levels for allowing the definition of the mechanical architecture of the launcher system and sub-system with regard to static loads,
·  of defining the sizing scheme (methodology to apply loads and boundary conditions for detailed sizing purposes) for all main launcher components,
·  of sizing several launcher components under Airbus Safran Launchers development and manufacturing or to support design team in early development phases,

Challenges for the upcoming years are : simultaneously maintain and develop Ariane 5 launcher family (A5E/CA+, A5E/S GALILEO, A5E/S BEPI COLOMBO) and develop the new Ariane 6 launchers.

In this context, the applicant will join the General Loads team of the Section. She/he will perform activities in order to characterize mechanical static loads applied to A5/A6 launchers (finite element modelling, static analyses) for all life phases of the launchers (ground & flight).

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
Tasks & accountabilities

These activities require:

·  the comprehension of the arising problem (hypotheses, type of modelling, type of load case, launcher behaviour, loads environment),
·  the analysis of the technical context to represent the physical problem (determination of driving parameters, choice of methods to be used, choice of input data),
·  the achievement of the modelling (analytical, finite elements or empirical method) and of analyses (static, linear, nonlinear) with the tools of the Department,
·  the comprehension of the results and their interpretation,
·  the definition of the specifications and associated justification (system margin synthesis, robustness, statistical analysis).

In addition, in a general context of mechanical structure justification, the mission is :

·  to propose evolutions of the specifications,
·  to propose improvements and formalization of methods,
·  to take part in the setting-up of the development logics or justification,
·  to write technical synthesis documents and to present the results to Programme management or to the customers.
