Description of the job

A vacancy for a FHS Data Scientist has arisen within Airbus (Commercial Aircraft) in Toulouse Blagnac. You will join the SLRA Business Support team within Airbus Flight Hour Services (FHS) department in Airbus Customer Support and Services.

Today, Airlines require cost-effective maintenance outsourcing options aimed at securing aircraft technical performance with minimal risk and investment.
Airbus Flight Hour Services (FHS) and LRU Services, designs and delivers guaranteed services ranging from component supply and repair to full airframe maintenance. This includes material supply chain, repair services, information systems, reliability optimization, aircraft maintenance, fleet engineering and new digital enablers such as FHS Powered by Skywise.

In this context we are looking for a Data Scientist that will help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data, and help us make smarter decisions to improve efficiency and deliver better products and services.

The primary focus of the successful applicant will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, with the main mission to support the FHS team in defining and developing FHS Powered by Skywise related digital solutions.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Data mining using state-of-the-art methods,
·  Extending company’s data with external sources of information when needed,
·  Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems,
·  Verifying the integrity of data used for analysis and trigger data quality improvement initiatives,
·  Performing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner,
·  Providing support and consultancy to the teams in the frame of the FHS Powered by Skywise initiative,
·  Developing solutions using Palantir built-in tools.

You will work in deep collaboration with the overall FHS community worldwide.

Required skills

You will have the following skills and experience:

·  Graduate degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science/Information Management or equivalent,
·  Experience in reliability engineering or spares forecasting or supply chain,
·  Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst with strong mathematics skills,
·  Experience in data mining and Machine-learning,
·  Knowledge of R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Java or C++ would be a plus,
·  Experience using business intelligence tools,
·  Knowledge of Palantir built-in tools (e.g. Contour, Slate, Quiver),
·  Experience in Agile methodology,
·  Autonomous with excellent communication skills, displaying an ability to take initiative with a pragmatic mindset,
·  Curious, innovative and "out of the box" way of thinking,
·  Data-oriented personality with problem solving mindset with ability to understand the global picture and pay attention to details,
·  High level of agility and ability to work with very short deadlines in a transnational environment, you are autonomous, and you are able to demonstrate both,
·  Willingness to help and support others, have very good teaching capabilities and active listening skills,
·  English negotiation level.
