Description of the job

A vacancy for an Electric Propulsion Electronic Referent (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse. You will join the Electrical Propulsion MSC (TSOTE5) department and you will lead engineering activities related to the development and/or manufacturing of electronics that drive electric propulsion thrusters for Telecom satellite application.

You will report to the Head of the Electric Propulsion department in the Telecom Satellites Business Unit in Toulouse.

The Electric Propulsion group in Toulouse is in charge of the complete electric propulsion sub-system on current and future satellite and constellation projects. One key element of the sub-system is the thruster module assembly, defined as the mechanical and thermal support for at least the electric thruster and potentially the complete sub-system, depending on the project.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Being the referent (Equipment Functional Manager) with the Electric propulsion group for all topics linked with an electronic equipment,
·  From the technical specification up to the final validation, being responsible for the qualification review and equipment delivery in-orbit (with support of the procurement team for management of the supplier relationship and the Electric Propulsion technical authority/referent for technical aspects),
·  Defining and setting-up the appropriate development plan and industrial scheme if necessary (with support of the procurement team) and validating the compliance to the technical specification of your development,
·  Working in collaboration with the Electric Propulsion and System architects and participating in the analysis of propulsion chain design (performances and justification file) and qualification status versus the satellite project/customer requirements,
·  Participating in the different equipment and/or satellite project reviews (preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews, test readiness reviews, test review board),
·  Interfacing with other architects in various areas (mechanical, thermal, electrical, functional, and modelling) and the procurement, AIT and operations departments.

This role will involve a lot of travel for business (once a month worldwide) and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to Engineering or Master's degree level,
·  3 years of experience in high voltage electronic development for space,
·  Serious experience in radiofrequency,
·  Ability to interface with different technical areas e.g. mechanical/electrical/thermal/functional,
·  Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment with a positive attitude,
·  Meticulous approach, good communication skills and the ability to summarise,
·  Negotiation level of English.
