Description of the job

A vacancy for a Data Scientist to conduct their thesis on helicopter data analysis (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Helicopters in Marignane.
Within the Airbus Helicopters Design Office, you will join the Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) design team for the Airbus Helicopters fleet.

Your role will be to analyse the helicopter statistics (as a data scientist). You will ensure the research for the use functions by contributing and applying data mining/statistics/mathematics technologies to the helicopter data collected within Airbus Helicopters.
This role will give you the opportunity to:

·  Apply big data solutions to helicopters
·  Industrialise the results of your thesis
·  Support conferences through the publication of articles, mainly in Europe
·  You will travel to the research laboratory in Lyon on a regular basis.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognised authorities.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include the following:

·  Developing detection, diagnostic and prognosis algorithms
·  Developing advanced monitoring functions
·  Specifying, performing and analysing algorithm and model validation tests.

Required skills

As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate some of the following competencies:

·  An Engineering degree or a Master's in Research
·  Knowledge of IT, Business intelligence and big data (R programming and/or HADOOB and/or MAP REDUCE and/or SQL and/or SPOTFIRE and/or QLIKVIEW)
·  Knowledge in Cloud computing and parallelism
·  Knowledge in Data mining and the data sciences with skills in statistics (principal component analysis (PCA) and/or canonical variant analysis (CVA) and/or the Monte Carlo methods)
·  Knowledge in C and C++ programming would be a plus
·  Curious

·  French: advanced level
·  English: intermediate level.
