We are looking for a Cockpit Operations Engineer/ Focal Point Weather.

You will join a team that proposes and defines cockpit functions that support safer, more efficient and effective operation of our aircraft, considering in particular:

·  the operational use of these functions by the crew,
·  the applicable regulations,
·  the insertion of the aircraft in the traffic,
·  the insertion of the aircraft in the Flight Operations of the airlines.

Key Responsibilities:

·  Lead/support the development of weather applications to be hosted on the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) and their functional integration in the cockpit
·  the design, development, validation of airborne functions using uplinked Aeronautical and Meteorological Information (AIM/MET) within SESAR 2020
·  Represent Airbus in an international working group in charge of developing standards on future AIM/MET DataLink Services
·  be focal point for all weather related projects

The job will also allow being involved closely in the development of new ideas for services.

Profil recherché

Tasks & accountabilities

Weather related EFB applications:

·  Project Leader for several projects incl. steering of suppliers
·  Contribution to the definition of the human-machine interface (HMI) of new applications;
·  Contribution to definition of EFB System Requirements and EFB-avionics interfaces to support new EFB applications
·  Management of the system and functional validation of new applications through dedicated laboratory simulation and flight tests;

Airborne Functions using uplinked AIM/MET:

·  Project leader for Airbus teams driving the design, development and validation of those functions, Airbus focal point for SESAR partners and SJU
·  Identification and analysis of pilot needs; definition of operational and functional requirements, definition of the expected operational behaviour and of the human-machine interface (HMI) of new functions; supporting the validation and verification of new functions through dedicated laboratory simulation and flight tests;

Standardization working group:

·  defend Airbus interests in the standardization working group, organize/ animate meetings with international multiple stakeholders
·  coordinate internally with representatives in related working groups in order to ensure harmonized Airbus Approach.

Focal point for weather related projects:

·  Identify the existing weather related projects and possible synergies,
·  Coordinate a harmonized approach (streamline, prioritize, identify needs)
·  Propose and collect new ideas for such projects

The role will include working with a variety of stakeholders, including pilots (test and training), human factors experts, systems design teams, aircraft programmes, international standardization working groups (e.g., on aeronautical meteorology), airworthiness authorities, weather providers, system suppliers.
Some travel will be required.

Required skills

As the successful candidate, you will need:

·  Engineering degree in aeronautics with a first experience in one or several of the following: avionics systems, cockpit operations, Air Traffic Management, system engineering
·  good knowledge in meteorology for aviation (at least one of the following: aeronautical weather regulations/ standards, operational usage of weather information by airlines, current research/ development in weather related a/c systems or EFB applications). You are interested to increase that knowledge rapidly.
·  experience in project management (Iron or Bronze certification would be a plus)
·  A private pilot's license would be a plus.
·  At least an advanced level in English is required

This role is based in Toulouse / France.
