Description of the job
A position as CAD Design Office Engineer (m/f) has just opened at Airbus Defence and Space in Toulouse. The chosen candidate will join the Satellite Design Office.
As a design engineer within the design office, part of the Mechanical Design Office (MDO) entity, you will be in charge of developing products from design phase through to manufacture. You will also be responsible for the project's financial performance and programming.
According to requirements, your activities can revolve around three specific design areas:
· defining mechanical structures,
· defining electrical harness routing,
· defining passive thermal protection (MLI).
Tasks & accountabilities
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
· Using CAD tools to design products or sub-systems in the form of 3D models
· Participating in the functional analysis of the project, and optimisation of the design for manufacture and assembly,
· Overseeing the relationship between the project and design team supervisors,
· Guaranteeing technical quality and delivery to deadline and budget: 'On Quality, On Time, On Costs' (OQOTOC),
· Ensuring consistency between the specification and detailed design,
· Creating the work plan (engineering and development) for detailed defining of activities and acceptance,
· Overseeing communication between manufacturers and being involved in monitoring the manufacture of parts,
· Providing operational support to business managers in order to put in place and monitor MDO processes, particularly for cabling or MLI activities.
Some business travel will be needed (4 times a year in Europe) and therefore you must be prepared to travel accordingly.
Profil recherché
Required skills
We are looking for candidates with the following experience and skills:
· Holder of a mechanical engineering degree (or equivalent),
· Initial experience in CAD design or a good understanding of this field,
· Good command of CATIA V5 and mechanical construction
· Initial experience in managing Digital MockUps (DMU) would be desirable,
· Ideally, experience in project management and budgeting,
· A good understanding of industry manufacturing and assembly technologies and spatial structures would be desirable,
· The ability to integrate into a team, flexibility and adaptability
· Rigorous, reactive, a self-starter, takes initiative, strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills,
· Advanced level in English and French.
