Description of the job

One vacancy for an Attitude and Orbit Control system (AOCS)/Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) Advanced Studies Engineer (m/f) have arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse. The successful applicant will join the AOCS/GNC and FDS advanced studies Toulouse department.

The Advanced Studies engineer is in charge of the design of new AOCS/GNC (Attitude and Orbit Control system/Guidance Navigation and Control) concepts and technologies for Earth Observation, Telecommunications, Navigation, Science, Formation Flying, Landing & Rendezvous.
The successful candidate will work on advanced studies and R&D focusing particularly on advanced control design techniques and their application in spacecraft AOCS/GNC design. Ability to develop links with academia and collaborate successfully to transfer techniques from research community to industry is a key success factor for this job.

Profil recherché

Tasks & accountabilities

Within this context, you will be in charge of the following activities for both satellite system studies & technological Research & Development studies/contracts:

·  Defining, analyzing and protecting innovative concepts for new space missions (architectures, algorithms, actuators and sensors)
·  Iteratively deriving AOCS/GNC functional chain requirements & architecture from mission needs, environment, spacecraft characteristics and equipment performance
·  Defining and designing AOCS/GNC algorithms, and assessing preliminary performances/feasibility on functional simulators
·  Validating new concepts through an adapted approach (full simulation, prototype/EM development and tests, Software/Hardware In-the-Loop) and coordination with other engineering entities (on-board software, mechanical & electrical design, simulation tools)
·  Continuously strive to be aware of relevant technological developments and state of the art control techniques, their implementation, verification and validation, and provide technical and innovative inputs to future technical proposals
·  Supporting transfer to industrial development phases.

Required skills

You have an Engineering diploma or a Master's degree with a specialization in Space and/or Automatic Control, with an experience of 2 to 3 years in a similar position in the avionics/GNC field, or a PhD degree about advanced control techniques in the field or aerospace.
You also have skills in all/part of the following technical fields:

·  Advanced control theory and signal filtering/processing,
·  Space flight dynamics basics,
·  Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink tools for modelling and functional simulation,
·  Knowledge of AOCS/GNC system design & real-time implementation.

You are able to adapt to fast-changing contexts/requirements while maintaining technical quality/focus, and are able to rapidly identify key design drivers and synthesis recommendations.
An advanced level of English and French is required for this position. You have the following qualities:
