Description of the job

A vacancy for an Architect in charge of Space environments on Telecom satellites M/F has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse
In the frame of a multi-disciplinary team and in close support to satellite system engineering, the space environment activities enables to view the overall spacecraft components.
It is an opportunity to know the telecom spacecraft Eurostar E3000 and the under-development Eurostar Neo.
Through the space environment topics, it allow to discover the overall hardware present on-board and the global architecture of the satellite.

The space environment activities deal with:
1. Radiations
2. Venting (Depressurisation)
3. Contamination / outgassing / Thrusters Plume
4. Micrometeoroids and space debris
5. ATOX (New with Electrical platform)
6. Space weather

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.

Profil recherché

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

1) Radiation analysis

·  Spacecraft equipment shielding assessment from Radiation Environment Models, spacecraft equipment location, definition and Software, and solar array efficiency degradation during the whole lifetime.
·  Participate to the In flight anomaly investigations.

2) Spacecraft venting analysis

·  Analysis to insure that during the launch vehicle ascent flight the spacecraft internal compartments are vented without damaging the thermal protection.
·  Verification on actual spacecraft during AIT of thermal protection implementation

3) Contamination / Outgassing / thrusters plume analysis

·  Contamination analysis to insure that any spacecraft thruster use will not degrade solar array, optical sensor performance in flight.
·  Outgassing analysis is related to deposit of Spacecraft structure material to sensitive equipment.
·  Plume impingement analyses are conducted on solar array, battery, including thermal plume effects..

4) Micro meteorits and space debris

·  Analysis on external sensitive parts of degradation in terms of probability linked to micro meteorits impacts from international flux models.
·  Follow space debris International standard evolution from CNES, ESA, NASA, etc…
·  Analysis of Space French Law impacts on Eurostar product evolution,

5) Atom Oxygen erosion

·  Analysis of the ATomic OXygen (ATOX) induced erosion on solar array interconnectors and external materials during the Electrical Orbit Raising (EOR) phase.

6) Space weather

·  Monitoring of the Eurostar fleet in-orbit related to space weather related events (eg solar / magnetic storm) on the hardware in orbit.

This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  Engineering degree ( or equivalent)
·  2 Years' experience in the aerospace industry
·  Knowledge of the space environment mandatory
·  Team spirit
·  Good relationship
·  Advanced level in English
·  Negotiation level in French
