Description of the job

A vacancy for an Attitude and Orbit Control system (AOCS)/Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) Advanced Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse. The successful applicant will join the TSOTO33 department.

The AOCS/GNC Advanced Studies Engineer will be in charge of designing new AOCS/GNC concepts and technologies for Earth Observation, Telecommunication, Navigation, Science, Formation Flying, Landing & Rendez-vous.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
Tasks & accountabilities

Within this context, you will be in charge of AOCS/GNC activities for both Satellite system studies & technological Research & Development studies/contracts:

·  Define, analyse and protect innovative concepts for new space missions (architectures, algorithms, actuators and sensors).
·  Iteratively derive AOCS/GNC functional chain requirements & architecture from mission needs, environment, spacecraft characteristics and Equipment performances.
·  Define and design AOCS/GNC algorithms, and assess preliminary performances/feasibility on functional simulators.
·  Validate new concepts through adapted approach (full simulation, prototype/EM development and test, Software/Hardware In-the-Loop) and coordination with other engineering entities (on-board software, mechanical & electrical design, simulation tools).
·  Support transfer to industrial development phases.

This role will involve some travels for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  You have an Engineering diploma or a Master's degree with a specialisation in Space and/or Automatic Control, with initial experience (or a significant internship) in a similar position in the avionics/GNC field.
·  Experience in Automatic control and signal filtering/processing basics
·  Experience in space flight dynamics basics
·  Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink tools for modelling & functional simulation
·  Notions of AOCS/GNC system design & real-time implementation
·  Be able to adapt to fast changing contexts/requirements while maintaining technical quality/focus.
·  Be able to rapidly identify key design drivers and synthesize recommendations.
·  Innovation spirit.

·  Self-organisation & autonomy.
·  Sense of technical quality & commitment.
·  Ability to work/interface with teams.
·  An advanced level of English and French is required for this position.
