Description of the job

A vacancy for a Qualification & Material Specialist has arisen within Airbus Interiors Services in Blagnac.

In the frame of AIRBUS Interiors Services (AIS), the Design Office performs developments linked to the conversion of the aircraft for Airlines application. Part of DO, the “Substantiation & Material” Engineering Department is in charge of justifying/qualifying all modifications developed by AIS, within the following domains: structure, cabin, systems installation.
In a context of increasing demand, especially for cabin developments (upgrades, equipment,…), AIS is looking for a qualification & material engineer to reinforce this department.

Reporting to the DO substantiation & material Manager, you will contribute to AIS development by:

·  Managing, issuing and validating compliance reports (flammability, environmental, mechanical) according to time, cost and quality requirements, for ATA25 modifications, by proposing recovery plan, if needed
·  Managing, witnessing and completing test campaigns (for development or for certification)
·  Ensuring the safety of AIS STC (supplemental type certification), especially with respect to ATA25 and 53 chapters,

Profil recherché

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Organize all the tasks (in the perimeter listed in the next paragraph) to get qualification and substantiation of AIS modifications on the following project types:
·  Airlines cabin equipments
·  Airlines cabin upgrades (STC)
·  Services to VIP



·  Manage qualification Test campaigns on the following perimeters:
·  Flammability (25.853, 25.856) on Cabin items and Thermal/acoustic insulation
·  Environmental (RTCA-DO-160 perimeter) for cabin items
·  Mechanical test (development of new concept or material), for example to characterize Sandwich panels and Standard fittings
·  Under the lead of the Substantiation & Material Manager, in accordance with Project Management, coordinate the technical feasibility (choice of structural material, decoration, …) in his domain, and provide technical expertise
·  Organize vendor review meetings with Project management to guarantee the technical compliance of developments to specification in order to achieve on-time items delivery
·  Ensure continuous reporting to Substantiation & Material Manager
·  Ensure the role of referent for Material qualification & substantiation and (progressively) become a specialist/CVE of ATA25 flammability issues
·  Provide experience support
·  for R&D, for ex on new materials and manufacturing processes
·  for Customer Supports topics (in-service issues like corrosion,…)

This role will involve some worldwide travel for business purposes (once a trimester) and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

You will have the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Aeronautical Engineering (preferably specialised in Material Sciences) or a related discipline.
·  An experience in flammability, fireworthiness is mandatory
·  Airbus aircraft general knowledge is mandatory
·  Knowledge in aeronautical material (especially for cabin part), design and manufacturing, operational issues (corrosion, …) is also amandatory
·  Knowledge in testing campaigns is mandatory
·  Knowledge of standard MS-Office applications,
·  Knowledge of CAD Tools (CATIA...) and of AIRBUS configuration management software (AOLS, Taksy, gilda,...) is a plus
·  General knowledge and/or experience in Aircraft structure stress activities (Static & Fatigue) is a plus
·  Knowledge of Airlines working protocols is a plus
·  Understanding of commercial environment and industrial processes,
·  Experienced in Suppliers relationship and coordination
·  Curiosity, self-organisation, team working
·  Language Skills: Negotiation level of English and French is mandatory
