Description of the job

A vacancy for an A350 XWB - PLANT ENGINEERING STRESS/DESIGN APPROVER (T400/DCDS) (m/f) has arisen within Airbus in Nantes.

The Nantes plant Engineering team is in charge of providing technical support to the plant, which expertise covers the manufacturing of both metallic and composite elementary parts, as well as the assembly of a wide range of major constituent assemblies such as: Centre Wing Box, Air Inlet, Keel Beam, Rudder, Outer Wing Box, whilst covering six aircraft programs (ATR, A320, A330, A380, A400M and A350XWB-900/1000).

The Nantes Plant Engineering is accountable for all the engineering deliverables to the plant, and therefore coordinates inputs from the Toulouse based Design Office towards the plant component delivery teams.

The Nantes plant Engineering has been undergoing a fast empowerment process and is looking for stress engineers eager to boost their careers by acquiring a unique experience in:

·  multi-functional team involvement
·  supporting key improvement initiatives such as Recurring Costs / Non-Recurring Costs and concessions reduction, and disturbance eradication to drive plant industrial performances,
·  supporting the XWB -900&1000 ramp-up for Centre Wing Box & Keel Beam (CWB & KB)

The open position is Stress Approver (T400/DCDS) for the team “CWB & KB work package”.
The jobholder will report directly to the Task team leader in charge of the work package.

Profil recherché

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Stress validation of concessions (T400/DCDS) for elementary parts (composite or metallic) or Assemblies (composite, hybrid or metallic)
·  Support, manage, steer subcontractors located in Nantes and in Bangalore to reach the performances of the perimeter for which you will responsible
·  Support the plant in the resolution of elementary parts or Assembly non-quality crises
·  Assess structural dispositions (acceptance or repair) for non-conformities at the NC Conformity stage during specific meetings in front of the Production
·  Provide technical expertise to Production and Quality representatives in case of Major Events
·  Support improvement projects such as RC/NRC reduction, concessions reduction, by a strong coordination between Design Office, Manufacturing Engineering, Production and Quality
·  Support the Continuous Product Development team in the delivery of Plant Improvement Modifications/Plant Program Driven modifications and Flow Modifications
·  Provide technical leadership and advice to the PET (Plant Engineering Team) community (T100/200/300) and drive RTT/RTO reduction
·  Drive concessions delivery performance by a strong focus on plant priorities and Time To Answer targets
·  Suggest innovative ideas for operational problem solving and mid/long term processes improvement.

The expected ratio between operational responsibilities (Concession - Validation) / Products Improvement responsibilities is around 80% / 20%.

This role will involve some business travels to St-Nazaire and Toulouse (once per month) and as such, you should be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to 5 years degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering
·  Experience in a Stress approver role linked to concessions process (T400/DCDS)
·  You demonstrate at least 3-5 years' experience in structure design development, ideally on both metallic and composite structures
·  You demonstrate a sound Airworthiness awareness via previous professional experience such as certification
·  You are familiar with the Airbus Engineering tools such as Catia V5, ISAMI
·  You have basic knowledge in configuration management
·  Ideally, you hold a delegated authority DOS card for concessions stress approval (DCDS role)
·  Knowledge of the non-conformities processes would be a plus
·  You are able to work in a multi-functional & multi-cultural team and to deal with complexity and priority conflicts
·  You are able to work with a remote team
·  You can handle different tasks within a short timeframe
·  You are customer-focused and have strong communication skills
·  English: advanced level
·  French: intermediate level
