Key tasks

Position Summary: Food production including prep, seasoning and cooking soups, meats, fish, vegetables and fruits for all outlets of the hotel. Work on the line during service hours.

•Essential Functions:***
•Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practice* *
•Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.* *
•Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock* *
•Practices serve-safe methods in preparing, cooking, holding and storing of all food items.* *
•Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons.* *
•Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods.* *
•Cook the exact number of items ordered by each customer, working on several different orders simultaneously.* *
•Assist chefs or caterers with food preparation.* *
•Check quality of foods or supplies.* *
•Prepare foods for cooking or serving.* *
•Plan menu options.* *
•Responsible for producing excellent quality.* *
•Maintains regular attendance, is consistently on time, and observes work, break and meal periods in compliance with standards.* *
•Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include compliance with the dress code.*

•Strong technical and knife skills, must be able to work under pressure* *
•Banqueting and baking experience a plus* *
•Culinary degree and Food handler certification a plus* *
•Basic Math skills* *
•Proactive approach when interacting with guest, co-worker or vendor*
•Customer Service Qualities:
•Outgoing, Friendly Personality***
•Effective Communicator in the English Language, Spanish a plus* *

Qualifications and Skills
•Job Requirements:
•Prepare food according to the order specification (Banquet Event Order and Micros checks) and according to the standard recipe. Must be able to read menus and orders to estimate proper quantity of food preparation***
•Must work following proper steps to ensure compliance with local Health Department Authority.* *
•Set up station in accordance to the business level and keep stocked for service* *
•Cook, season and plate up food in accordance to the recipe and the standards* *
•Must be proficient with meat temperatures and cooking techniques* *
•Autonomous and fast worker to handle heavy production of food for all outlets* *
•Able to stand up for long periods of time* *
•Able to push, lift, pull up to 50 pounds *

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
•Minimum 2 years cooking experience, preferably high volume. • Food/Beverage Service Worker Permit, where applicable. • Meet minimum age requirement of jurisdiction. • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other Team Members.
•Ability to use cooking metrics and conversion methods for all cooking measurements. •Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
•Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Primary Responsibilities:
•Is knowledgeable of all menu items on scheduled shift* *

•Manage guest orders in a friendly, timely and efficient manner. * Prepare food items according to designated recipes and quality standards
