Current situation

The current process of requesting medical supplies (medicines or materials) is very long and inefficient. An industry that needs to focus most of their time on helping their patients and as soon as possible, this is a problem that needs to be solved.

There are many parties and people involved in requesting a medical supply, such as a GP, a hospital, a pharmacy, an insurance company, a supplies company and sometimes even a transport company. These parties often need to request information from each other, which means there are high delays during the transmission of Information. Also there is a lack of global visibility of this data. It is also difficult to see who is the owner of the information, and track the changes that have been made over time.

Challenge

Using the blockchain technology, could enable the citizen to be in full control over their own identity and over who has access to this information. This could solve a lot of privacy challenges. Furthermore, using the blockchain will enable information transmission is direct and reconciliations happens in seconds. There is a clear audit trail, and you can see all the transactions that have been made over time, which will decrease a lot of the time spent on administration. Using smart contracts will make the process of requesting a medical supply more efficient, because this can be partly automated.

Your impact

You will first research which blockchain platform (Multichain, Quorum, Corda or a different platform) is best suited for supply chain solutions. Based on the outcome of your research you will build a solution in NodeJS using the best-suited blockchain platform according to your research.

You will also research the blockchain medical supplies use case and decide on the scope of the project, the parties involved, their roles and how the blockchain would work. The solution that you will build will serve as a proof of concept.

Qualifications :

Your background

• You are in the final year of your graduation from college.

• You are a team player with excellent communication skills

• You are fluent in the Dutch and English language

• You can work independently

• Knowledge of/experience in: web development (Javascript, NodeJS)

• Interest in: UI/UX Development

• Eager to learn new skills and technologies

• Problem-solving ability
