Job description

Are you excited about (financial aspects in) commercial real estate? Do you have the social and analytical skills needed to excel in a professional and competitive environment? Do you get the fact that performance is all about teamwork, without shrinking away from responsibility? Then you may just be the right candidate for the Real Estate Clients track of our Corporate Banking Graduate Programme. Real Estate Clients is a fast growing business focussing on providing financing and advisory services to the real estate industry.

Tell us your story. We are curious! If you're already good, we'll make you even better. That's a promise. So seize this opportunity to develop into the professional you aspire to be.

What is the job about?

In your first few weeks at ABN AMRO, you’ll follow the Corporate Banking Graduate Programme together with your fellow graduates, during which time you’ll get to know the corporate bank you’ll later be part of. Besides a broad introduction to ABN AMRO, you’ll participate in hands-on training in the fields of Accounting, Financial Analysis, Financial Modelling, Corporate Banking, Credit Risk, and personal development. Trainings will be delivered by those at the very top of their field – including university lecturers, professional trainers and managers at ABN AMRO. Together, they will give you a solid basis for further development within the bank. At the same time, you will build an international network of graduates spanning several parts of International Clients, Commercial Clients & Corporate Finance. A great start to your Corporate Banking Graduate Programme.

Following the initial general training, you’ll start to work at Real Estate Clients, where you’ll be trained to become an all-round real estate banker within 18 months. You won’t be tied to a specific specialisation; rather, you’ll build up a valuable network and broad on-the-job experience – including via rotations in e.g.:

·  Real Estate Clients (Advisory as well as Lending)
·  Financial Restructuring & Recovery (FR&R)
·  Equity or Debt Capital Markets (E/DCM)
·  Capital Structuring & Advisory (CSA)
·  Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)

You’ll also get the chance to enrich your training with a rotation at one of our offices abroad.

The real estate industry is as heterogeneous as it is demanding. E.g. it is a significant investment category for pension funds and insurance companies, as well family offices, while being targeted by developers with new projects. Market players are domestic as well as “inbounds” from all across the globe. Together we are responsible for the transition towards a sustainable urban environment in the Netherlands. Because of this, it’s important that you work according to the core values of ABN AMRO: know your client to their very heart and surprise them with your outstanding sector knowledge. Right from the start, you’ll fully participate in client service teams (CST’s) with other specialists. Your work will include:

·  Advising on company strategy, planning and capital structure;
·  Analysing real estate sub markets and locations;
·  Making financial models and value analyses;
·  Assist in preparing credit proposals;
·  Conducting analyses on our (loan/client) portfolio
·  Drafting transaction documents.

Because the job is ever-changing, you’re guaranteed to learn a lot in a short period of time. All the knowledge that you gain will prepare you for a great career at ABN AMRO.

Who are you?

You care about a long-term sustainable urban environment. You’re an analytical type with outstanding social and communication skills. These are important characteristics, because you’re going to work with the most diverse set of colleagues as well as clients. You’re entrepreneurial, have a healthy dose of self-confidence and enjoy working in teams. You’re risk-aware and focus on the long-term results of your work. This is why you are a positive addition to the department.

We offer a challenging position with plenty of opportunities, which is why we set clear requirements.

Do you think you're a good fit? Check out your profile:

·  Master’s degree with above-average grades;
·  No more than two years of work experience;
·  Relevant extracurricular activities, and/or experience abroad;
·  Preferably (internship) experience with commercial real estate and/or corporate finance;
·  Ambitious, inquisitive and enterprising.

Who are we?

The Real Estate clients department is part of ABN AMRO Commercial Clients. We focus on professional developers and investors in commercial real estate, supporting them with (asset based) financing solutions, corporate finance advisory and capital markets transactions. The Real Estate Clients team has seen significant growth over the last years and currently consists of +/- 60 professionals located in Amsterdam as well as across the Netherlands.

Working at ABN AMRO means becoming even better at what you do. We understand clients, translate their ambitions into joint success and thus earn their trust. We want our clients to understand our products. It's why we sometimes say 'no' if the risk attached to a product is too great for the client. Serving the client's interests is also a question of offering – and communicating – a transparent range of products. Banking is our business, the world is our challenge.

What do we offer?

All our Corporate Banking Graduate Programmes start with several weeks of general training. From there, you’ll be coached to become an all-round real estate banker within 18 months, by fully participating in various different project teams.

During your entire time in the programme, you’ll receive guidance from a Pool Manager, project team supervisors, trainers and a mentor. In addition, ABN AMRO offers an ongoing training curriculum that allows you to increase your technical knowledge, deepen your understanding of financial markets and products, and further develop your personal skills. You’ll also regularly get together with the Corporate Banking Graduate Programme’s training group.
