JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:
An engineering professional who applies scientific knowledge, engineering knowledge, mathematics, and ingenuity to complete assignments related to maintenance excellence and reliability. This position is involved in the overall lifecycle of capital assets (designing, delivering, operating, maintaining, and decommissioning) in the most productive and cost effective manner. Manage the preventive and predictive maintenance programs, manage maintenance line support, manage/support the department and plant maintenance budgets, coordinate plant shutdown assignments, provide capital project input and support as well as overseeing the maintenance resources necessary to assure the production plan is met and/or exceeded while maintaining a zero incident safety mindset, and teamwork attitude.

Responsibilities:
Assists with deployment of predictive and reliability centered maintenance strategies.

Problem Solving: · Provide a centralized, strategic look across equipment performance (downtime), material/component failure analysis, and changeovers.

Grasps complexities and sees relationships among data, determines consequences and alternatives; makes recommendations, analyzes problems from multiple perspectives. · Improves maintenance processes.

Recognizes and implements process improvements and cost reductions; creatively applies others’ ideas.

Facilitates root cause analysis for equipment downtime.

Develops and executes reliability studies and evaluations of equipment robustness.

Conveys information effectively with team members, designers, technicians, and other technical personnel, both internal and external to Abbott, using appropriate communication protocols; obtains approval to proceed with proposed action plans.

Initiates and cultivates open, honest relationships with colleagues, customers, contractors, and vendors by establishing rapport, developing an understanding of others’ needs, promoting common goals, and following through on commitments, e.g. offers assistance.

Compliance: · Complies with all regulations and standards for quality, Environmental, Health, Safety, and Energy (EHS&E) Global Policies, Abbott Engineering Standards, and other governance areas as applicable.

Ensures quality and effectiveness of assigned tasks.

Has awareness of the potential consequences of changes to established processes.

Identifies areas of risk with respect to compliance.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, science or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence, with a desired 3+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience. Additional post-graduate education may contribute towards the desired years of experience. A Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree or related experience is preferred. Possesses a working technical knowledge of maintenance programs. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Familiarity with “reliability centered maintenance’ is preferred. Highly experience mechanical technician / engineer. Preferably experience on high complex automation equipment, for example IMA, Sortimat, Mikron etc. May either come from machine building background or in manufacturing sector with experience of bringing automation lines from start up to full efficiency. Evidence of driving machine OEE up, improving yield on complex equipment. Self-motivated engineer with a desire to improve HV automation. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. · Interacts well with diverse groups within engineering and maintenance, and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators. Flexible with respect to travel, 50% time in Ireland / travel through first 6-9 months of role. Team player, wants to engage with the wider team. Happy to be hands on and based on equipment 80% of the time. Flexible to working with respect to days, weekends and nights as needed to support production.
