The 3M plant located in Alexandria, MN is part of the 3M Abrasives Systems Division, serving industrial customers with coated abrasives products to support their product finishing needs. The Alexandria plant produces coated abrasives on a state-of-the-art abrasives maker. The abrasive materials are then converted into rolls, belts and discs which are packaged and distributed to customers. The plant has been in operation for over 45 years and is committed to operationalexcellence.  Theposition of Manufacturing Production Operator located in Alexandria, Minnesota, is part of a fast paced, customer focused, team oriented manufacturing plant.

 Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

·  Demonstrate safe work behaviors to avoid injury to self or others
·  Follow operating procedures and customer specifications to produce quality products which are delivered to customers on time
·  Operate manufacturing equipment to make coated abrasives material and converting equipment to produce belts, rolls and discs
·  Work effectively within a production work team and collaborate with other teams
·  Contribute to continuous improvement and problem solving

This position will require:

·  Working a fixed 3rd shift OR a rotating shift, depending on shift availability

This position may require:

·  Working weekends
·  Working overtime
·  Working holidays as needed

Basic Qualifications:  

·  Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher

Preferred Qualifications:

·  A minimum of one (1) year of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
·  Basic computer knowledge
·  Experience in agriculture, farming and/or mechanics
·  Post high school education
·  Self-motivated, team oriented and excellent interpersonal skills

Qualified applicants will be required to take and pass 3M employment testing as a part of the selection process.

This posting is for a Production Operator position at 3M Alexandria. 3M anticipates that multiple openings for this position will occur over time. Qualified applicants may be considered as Production Operator openings occur at 3M Alexandria, and 3M will accept applications for up to 6 months from the posting date of this requisition.  Eligible applications will be kept open and active until Nov. 7th, 2018.  After that, the posting will be taken down and applicants will need to apply/re-apply for available open postings at that time.
