An exciting new opportunity opens up within HSBC Asset Management (AM) Active Equities business. You are part of the Thematic Equities franchise that is responsible for several global thematic equities investment strategies in different locations globally. Our investment strategies range from climate-related, technology, healthcare and resources aligned themes. 

As a Senior Investment Specialist for Thematic Equities you will be responsible to shape and grow the internal and external visibility and perception of our Thematic Equities investment capabilities. In this role you will also substantially contribute to the asset related growth of this capability. You will drive and contribute to global active and thematic equities projects and campaigns.

What you will do: 

Shape and grow thematic equities visibility and perception

·  Fully leverage and optimize existing investment content networks, channels and tools in order to increase awareness and visibility of thematic equities
·  Regularly shape and develop new and differentiated investment content
·  Compile and provide regular active equity market insights to internal stakeholders and top management 
·  Actively participate in investment management and research meetings to build up in-depth investment portfolio insights
·  Pro-actively manage new investment content projects 

Working collaboratively with equity Portfolio Manager/Analysts, Responsible Investing teams

·  Prepare, support and collaborate with thematic equity portfolio managers to shape a compelling investment offering beyond investment returns
·  Contribute to the multi-thematic expert discussions and investment strategies
·  Regularly engage and collaborate with RI experts to ensure portfolio is well aligned with internal and external RI frameworks 

Sales and clients

·  Regularly communicate and cooperate with sales and other relevant internal stakeholders
·  Develop a strong narrative for your investment strategies in collaboration with the investment managers
·  Regularly participate in internal and external client events

Major Challenges

·  Working in a global matrix organization with several key stakeholders
·  The role holder may need to re-prioritize deliverables in the face of changing demands and constraints
·  Working with stakeholders to drive further global consistency
·  Aligning existing approach to a more optimized global target model – requires relationship building and strong stakeholder management skills across multiple teams and business areas

Requirements

You should apply if you have:  

· 
PhD or Master’s degree in finance, economics, relevant field or equivalents

· 
CFA or equivalent an advantage, Professional certification related to ESG as CFA ESG investing are a plus

·  Prior successful experience and track record in equity investment management or equity research or investment specialist role 
· 
Expertise, experience and motivation to develop high conviction investment content

· 
Good knowledge of sustainability frameworks and standards 

· 
Excel proficiency and/or knowledge of Factset /Bloomberg type tools

· 
Direct experience writing academic and/or commercial thought leadership papers 

· 
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences

· 
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional community, with a variety of stakeholders, activities, systems and processes. 

· 
Able to articulate complex techniques in an engaging way for clients and external or internal stakeholders effectively 

· 
Proactive, highly motivated, organized, and disciplined in managing multiple workflows

· 
Positive and proactive attitude with flexibility to accommodate changing environment and willingness to take on new responsibilities Strong communication, analytical, problem solving and stakeholder management skills

· 
Passion for sustainability topics

· 
Someone who is familiar with and comfortable taking ownership whilst able to escalate issues sensitively in a timely manner
