2017 - 2018 San Jose, Santa Clara CountyInfra / Réseaux / Télécoms1. Design and implementation of SSL VPNs ---- In the project, Virtual Private Network (VPN) was built on Secure Socket Layer (SSL). The design and implementation of SSL VPNs exemplify a number of security principles and technologies, like, Crypto, Integrity, Authentication, Key management, key exchange, and Public-Key Infrastructure (PKI). To achieve this goal, a mini Virtual Private Network was implemented with a focus on the network and security technologies underlying Secure Socket Layer VPNs using OpenSSL. 2. Bypassing firewalls using VPN ---- The learning objective of this project was to see how VPN works in action and how VPN can help bypass egress firewalls. A simple VPN is implemented using tunneling technology to bypass firewalls in Ubuntu. 3. L7 Load balancer and Policy Implementation----- A load balancer is crucial for scalability, manageability, and availability of cloud environment. In this project, an Octavia layer 7 load balancer was implemented to distribute workloads across nodes in the OpenStack environment. This Octavia layer 7 load balancer uses Amphora image to accomplish delivery of load balancing services to maximize the throughput and minimize the response time, thereby increasing the performance. Three L7 policies have been implemented to determine which backend pool should service any given request at any time. The traffic was successfully local scaled-out between two virtual machines in a network using our Octavia load balancing policy. The project is a fundamental use case of a cloud environment to enable an easy way to scale applications. 4. Design and configuration of network types ----- Learn how to use Packet-tracer to implement and test layer 2 devices and how to assign IP addresses using DHCP server and configuring Spanning Tree Protocol. implement and configure RIP network topologies, capture and analyze RIP routing updates and routers exchanged messages using Packet-Tracer. Set up and simulate client-server communication over IP networks Create wide area network (WAN) with HTTP server
