Résumé

I'm not a typical chemical engineer. Of course, I know about entropy, energy balances and separation techniques. But I'm also a project manager, team leader, aerospace/mechanical engineer, drug development scientist, information technology analyst, venture capitalist and rocket scientist. My background, which is very broad, isn't traditional. As a current student studying chemical engineering, I have worked on electronics systems for a NASA moon rover payload, developed next-generation cancer treatment drugs, worked on sounding rockets payloads, and setup information technology systems for defense contractors. Currently, I am junior at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, planning on graduating with a bachelor of science in chemical engineering in May 2017. I am currently looking for a summer internship in 2016 or any other kind of opportunity that I may be a fit for. I am looking for any kind of summer opportunity in any field! In summary, my passion for learning is coupled with an extremely diverse background in multiple technology-oriented industries, which helps me problem solve in a unique way. I am not an engineer who just wants a paycheck. I am an engineer who wants to learn and take on big issues and who wants to plan, formulate and lead. I am excited for what lies ahead! Feel free to send me a message.

Expériences

Fellow

- MaintenantCurrently serving as a fellow and campus ambassador for Lime Connect, which is a selective professional development organization for high-achieving individuals. Made up of partners from IBM, PepsiCo, Google, Target, Goldman Sachs, Bloomberg and JP Morgan. Worked with class deans and students at Rensselaer to organize networking events and provide opportunities for students on campus with certain partner companies.

College Technical Intern

- Streamlined innovative IT practices within Northrop Grumman’s internal information services department, resulting in the development of an automated database financial forecasting program using Microsoft Access, standing up of a high-performance computing service, SharePoint websites and other various services and projects used by all Northrop Grumman employees.

T&e Engineering Co-Op

- Contributed to NASA’s Sounding Rocket Operations Contract II (NSROC II), which utilizes expendable suborbital sounding rockets to conduct scientific missions to study atmospheric and space environments. Assisted with flight qualification testing of 15+ rocket payload. Subjected payloads through balance, vibration, bend, centrifugal, payload deployment and MOI (moment of inertia) testing to ensure durability through flight. Used AutoCAD and Solidworks to help model 20+ parts for the Mechanical Engineering Department. Supported over 300+ operations and lift procedures, ran over 150+ tests and won an award with the T&E Department with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)'s Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator (LDSD) project for support.

Biologics Process Development – Downstream Co-Op

- Worked in the Downstream Process Development group to develop novel separation technologies and gain understanding of the current protein purification and drug development platform. Focused mainly on process condition optimization and characterization using cation and anion exchange, hydrophobic interaction and Protein-A/affinity chromatography resins for monoclonal antibody (mAb) drug products, including treatment of cancer (Opdivo®) and arthritis (Orencia®). Final processes were optimized by 45%-852% and 23%-144%, for impurity removal and product yield, respectively. Collaborate with BMS TECAN team to implement high-throughput screening experiments and used design of experiments (DOE) methodology to map out optimal wash conditions for process scale-up.

Research Intern

- Worked in the Applied Physics/Chemistry Lab on the RESOLVE (Regolith & Environment Science & Oxygen & Lunar Volatile Extraction) Moon Rover, a Mission to Mars and ISRU (In-situ resource utilization) project with a focus on the Lunar Advanced Volatile Analysis Subsystem, comprised of a manifold, gas chromatograph, mass spectrometer, and Water Droplet Demonstration Unit. Initial launch date of May 2020. Researched, tested and assembled line and circuit heaters, pressure transducers, Resistance Temperature Detectors, temperature sensors, thermocouples, thin film deposition, and thermal profiles cameras. Experience with preparing vacuum chambers and testing in vacuum/space flight environments. Utilized modified commercial off the shelf instruments and characterized analytical behavior for optimization and testing.

Biodiesel Project Leader

- MaintenantCurrently leading fifteen student members to build a large-scale biodiesel production platform to be used for sustainable and academic purposes. Raised over $15,000 in funding for the project through various forms of fundraising, such as grants, such as the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute's Community Grant Program, and crowdsourcing techniques, such as Kickstarter and WeR Gold Funding. The production plant will be used as a learning and experimentation tool for future students and faculty that are interested in large scale manufacturing and scale-up.
