Résumé

I am a physics student from Stanford with a minor in computer science. I've written code that currently runs on the ATLAS experiment at CERN. I'm interested in nanotechnology, science education, data analysis, and understanding financial markets.

Expériences

Teaching Assistant

- MaintenantChimie / Biologie / AgronomieI have worked as a teaching assistant for two of the largest physics courses offered at Stanford. I lead discussions sections composed of lectures and interactive problem solving. I develop course content including exams and homework. I evaluate student performance based on exams and homework. I teach difficult physics concepts clearly. I earned 4.6/5 teaching effectiveness rating (determined by anonymous student reviews) compared to the average 3.9/5.

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow

- Chimie / Biologie / AgronomieCERN is the Mecca of particle physics. The ATLAS experiment is the largest particle detector on the Large Hadron Collider and is perhaps the largest scientific experiment to be constructed by mankind. I tested the performance of prototype silicon pixel sensors for ATLAS Research and Development. I improved the software tool responsible for measuring the size of the region where the beams of protons collide and increased accuracy by more than 50%.

Chemical Vapor Deposition Monito

- Energie / Matériaux / MécaniqueThe Stanford Nanofabrication Facility (SNF) has a 10,000 sq ft cleanroom utilized by academic research teams and industry professionals. I monitored and maintained the high performance of the Chemical Vapor Deposition equipment, both Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition (LPCVD) and Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD). I developed the processes used for tool qualifications. I trained and mentored 4 new members.

Research Assistant

- Chimie / Biologie / AgronomieThe Gemini Planet Imager (GPI) is the next generation adaptive optics instrument seeking to characterize and discover exoplanets orbiting a selection of 600 stars. I performed image analysis to determine optimal parameters regarding focus. I conducted research of the exoplanet population with a known spectra.

Research Assistant

- Chimie / Biologie / AgronomieBICEP2 (Background Imaging of Cosmic Extragalactic Polarization) is an experiment located in Antarctica that seeks to measure the polarization of the Cosmics Microwave Background (CMB) radiation which allows us to study the universe shortly after the Big Bang. I developed a program in Java to simulate polarization patterns in CMB radiation. I presented research project in a poster session for the Stanford Physics Department and in a presentation to the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology.

Mechanical Engineering Intern

- Seescan Inc. develops innovative inspection and locating tools for power lines, pipes, and other utilities. I headed a research and development project to explore the possibility of using ground penetrating radar (GPR) to improve our utility locator. I tested GPR accuracy in areas with different soil composition. I conducted research on radargram detail dependence on frequency and antenna orientation, and interference between different utilities. I performed experiments to test the feasibility of using laser speckling for ground tracking. I utilized MATLAB for image processing. I designed experimental apparatus in Solidworks and fabricated parts using FDM 3D printing.

Expériences Extra Professionnelles

High Altitude Balloon Team Lead, Core Member

Stanford Student Space Initiative
-

The Stanford Student Space Initiative is Stanford's largest project-based student group. The group is dedicated to giving future leaders of the space industry hands-on experience. I directed 21 High Altitude Balloon (HAB) launches. I launched a controlled-altitude latex balloon platform that flew over 1,000 miles over 23 hours. I designed and constructed two double-balloon systems for competing in the Global Space Balloon Challenge. I transmitted live images and sensor data from the payload using APRS, Slow Scan TV, and satellite communication. I built and launched a 6 ft. rocket and acquired High Powered Rocketry Certification
