Front of House Staff Member
- Hôtellerie - Restauration Working at Ventnor Botanical Gardens I was introduced to the world of hospitality and catering.
My main tasks involved the running of the cafe, opening up and closing down, preparing drinks and food, restocking, and, of course the most important of all, customer service. However I often switched between the cafe, the restaurant and the kitchen, demonstrating my flexibility and willingness to work as a team player, wherever I am needed. Working in the cafe I was able to demonstrate good communication skills and team skills, such as when the cafe became very busy, as I maintained a positive and cheerful attitude and worked efficiently and effectively with my team.
In my short time at the gardens I quickly developed from a trainee to trainer, introducing new staff and taking on extra responsibilities.
The gardens also hosted weddings and other events, which I was often chosen to work on, requiring me to work well under pressure and maintaining a good level of service on long shifts.
