Project Engineer

- MaintenantDéveloppement informatiqueI have worked with Contractors Engineering Managers (CEMs) and Project Managers for the delivery of Integrated Electronic Control Centre (IECC) systems and peripheral units into Signalling Centres, Signal Boxes, Relay Rooms and Equipment Rooms. Responsible for the timely delivery of project allocated tasks, and organising and co-ordinating activities of other members of the project engineering function, my activities included: production of key plans, including Project Plans, Work Package Plans, Construction Phase Plans, Environmental Management Plans and Project Quality Plans; production of strategies for the implementation of the projects, e.g. IECC hardware upgrading strategies and reversion strategies, identifying the hardware tasks required, including duration, resources and dependencies; preparation of Requests for Information and Technical Queries to be issued to the Client and relevant stakeholders; production of Installation Specifications and Technical Reports for the works to be carried out; management of material requirements, producing Bills of Materials, keeping track of material delivery times and confirm availability for the build/installation dates; work to find alternative technical solutions where the delivery time is not compatible with the deadline; reviewing the status of project work packages, monitoring on daily basis the issuing of project documentation, technical queries and design logs and update accordingly the relevant project trackers; production of Task Briefing Sheets for the on-site activities and project commissionings; briefing of staff over the contents of the top-level Work Package Plan and specific Task Briefing Sheet prior to work being started; ensure that a Safe System of Work is in place at all times; coordinate and conduct on-site activities (including site surveys, enabling works, installation works), arranging meetings beforehand with the relevant project staff for transmitting the scope of works and ensuring that all items are covered for its achievability; liaison with Client / Principal Contractor project team for confirming the installation requirements or booking the access to the infrastructure; ensure that the new equipment is installed as agreed with the Client, either being directly on site or communicating with the team on site; production of Instructions to Signallers and Maintainers; communicate problems and issues to the project team in a timely manner and of a quality to ensure that appropriate solutions are found and implemented.

Project Engineer

- Energie / Matériaux / MécaniqueI have worked with the Product Line Manager, the Head of Product Development and the Project Managers for the development of two new signalling systems, defining the product evolution along the product life cycle, from conception through to launch. My activities included: customer requirements analysis, competitive landscape investigation, definition of system requirements, conduct of technology assessment, preparation of System Architecture and Requirements Specifications, preparation of cost estimates, determination of project schedule in according to project plan, coordination and control of project activities, performing technical interchange meetings, managing the production of prototypes based on the initial design concepts, confirming product performance by designing and conducting tests, control of project costs, monitoring of project progress, preparation of project status reports, preparation of product specification, performing technical gap analysis, performing product evaluation demos to customers. I ensured the system was developed in compliance with the qualification and homologation processes for railway customers, including: common safety method for risk evaluation and assessment (CSM-REA); safety integrity level (SIL) allocation; application processes; system testing; software testing; environmental testing; compliance with CENELEC railway standards; verification and validation processes; independent safety assessor (ISA) certification; safety case.
