R&D Process/Chemical Engineer
- Conception / Génie civil / Génie industriel Internship subject: Development of an Advanced Oxidation Process for the abatement of refractory COD in a reactor with a behavior close to a fluidized-bed.
The objective of this internship was to develop an efficient process for the removal of refractory COD in industrial effluents in a reactor that belongs to Veolia. It was used an advanced oxidation reaction called heterogeneous Fenton.
Main tasks:
o Literature research on the Fenton reaction, especially in presence of media and implementation (CSTR , fluidized bed).
o Writing security Tables for the HSE service in order to perform the experiments in the laboratory and on the pilot.
o Decide on the next experiments to be performed, present the results to hierarchical superiors in meetings.
o Laboratory tests (homogeneous and heterogeneous Fenton) on a real and a synthetic effluent: optimization of the reaction and medias screening.
o Find the good operating conditions for the pilot (flowrates, tubes section/length, stirring speed, agitation blades type...).
o Update the pilot PFD.
o Writing an operating manual for the pilot.
o Starting the pilot and operating tests on it: performance and optimization.
o Writing of internal notes
During this internship I was in constant contact with different Process Engineers of the Technical Division of Veolia.
