Job Title: Materials and ProcessEngineer

Job Summary:

A Materials and Process Engineer develops and establishes material and process specifications to ensure manufacturing process and materials meet customer and regulatory requirements. May work on R&D or with external / internal customers and serve as a liaison on critical matters

Essential Duties:

· Innovate, design, develop, optimize and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, tooling and equipment
· Develop equipment and tooling specifications identify and evaluate suppliers, help procure, install and de-bug equipment from outside suppliers
· Perform process optimization and process capability studies
· Write manufacturing procedures and perform training of production personnel
· Provide timely resolution of product, process and equipment problems in the form of creative short and long term solutions
· Identify potential product improvement, vertical integration and cost reduction opportunities
· Lead cross-functional teams for product improvement, line extension or vertical integration projects
· Oversee development and validation builds
· Ensure adequate engineering studies, design verifications, and process validations are conducted such that well developed products are introduced into manufacturing
· Write, execute and review validation protocols and reports
· Assist in new business development

Required or preferred experience includes:

· Bachelor of Science degree required
BS Mechanical Eng., Material Science, Plastics Eng./ Tech. or Manufacturing Eng./Tech., etc
· 0-5 years experience in manufacturing environment (required).
· Experience in composites manufacturing environment (preferred).

Technical experience:

· Composites manufacturing knowledge of lay-up processes and resin infusion processes using autoclave and oven cures.
· Knowledge of materials: Fiberglass and Carbon fiber in Unidirectional tape, Non-Crimp Fabric, Woven and Braided configurations etc.
· Experience with automated material placement equipment for composite production a plus.
· Knowledge of thermoplastic composite materials and processes a plus
· Experience with 3D CAD software required.
· Experience in Catia is highly desired.
· Understanding of concepts, processes and practices as related to a manufacturing environment including: Model Based Definition, Specifications, Work Orders, and Inspection Plans.
