IoT Electronics Design Engineer

Job Summary:
Design of products with high performance and rich user experience is a key function in the innovation of connected product solutions development at SKY, Safran Cabin. The electronics engineer owns the IoT electronics development process that covers sensor electronics, DSP/GPU/FPGA based circuit design, wireless R/F hardware, mixed signal circuit design, ultra-low power circuit design, and embedded hardware security development for IoT products. Is responsible for being hands on with the IoT protocols, wireless PHY standards development, requirements, design, coding and testing for high quality products.

Is responsible for Cabin Research and Technology activities that related to Connected Products and full stack development activities. The responsibilities include dream the future, ideation, new technology implementation, and R&T project execution up to TRL6 and beyond as needed. Fosters innovation and creativity. Manages R&T software projects to ensure they meet planned TRL objectives within planned schedules.

As a member of the SKY R&T team, he/she supports in achieving department goals and the overall business goals of the branch as defined in annual performance objectives

Summary of Duties:

·  • Create and maintain hardware requirements specification and hardware interface control documents
·  • Work with SKY research team to develop IoT prototype electronics and manage schematics and PCBA layout
·  • Be responsible for the development and validation of product hardware design and testing
·  • Work with partners/universities/suppliers to develop custom components, antennas, and other IoT hardware
·  • Perform electronics functional tests around system integrations and evaluating new design solutions
·  • Work with mechanical engineering team to investigate, analyze and come up with product packaging solutions
·  • Perform electrical tests using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers
·  • Develop hardware for protocols such as Ethernet/802.11/802.15/BLE/RS485/MODBUS/SPI, etc.
·  • Performs component selection & obsolescence management
·  • Creates hardware design document that covers design analysis, notes, and specific guidelines followed
·  • Performs worst case load analysis (DC Load Analysis) on the circuit designs
·  • Performs component derating and thermal analysis
·  • Performance design performance margin analysis
·  • Performs PCB board bring-up per the circuit design
·  • Creates PCB board level functional test procedures per circuit functional blocks
·  • Creates design verification test procedure (DVTP) document
·  • Performs electronics hardware testing to make sure that requirements are met and generate test reports (DVTR)
·  • Independently finds or creates solutions to problems requiring research, resourcefulness and creativity
·  • Work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to deliver reliable Connected Products on time and on budget.

·  • Designs and develops IoT edge hardware that interacts with sensors, wireless transmission devices.
·  • Work with hardware and software teams to control radio parameters and characterize the radio under operational conditions.
·  • Work with outsourced contract manufacturing and support through full production ramp by design and build package releases
·  • Use best practices for DFT, DFM, and DFMEA processes as part of product development and validation
·  • Design & develop instrumentation capabilities for product electrical parameter characterization and validation
·  • Conduct preliminary and detailed hardware design reviews involving all design disciplines to ensure adherence to requirements. Document and address all issues in a timely manner.

Job requirements

Qualifications:
Education: BS Degree in Electronics Engineering from a recognized institute
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the innovation, design and the development of loT embedded hardware products and technologies with prior experience in research & products companies.

·  • Experience in using simulation/analysis tools such as PSpice, Hyperlynx for signal integrity, and MATLAB/Simulink etc.

·  • Experience in designing DC/DC converter circuits for low power IoT applications
·  • Experience in ultra-low power circuit design techniques for integrating analog sensors with digital electronics targeted for battery powered products
·  • Experience in design and validation of novel circuitry to reduce noise and increase signal in the sensor devices
·  • Experience in implementing multiplexing methods for rapid measurement of multiple sensors simultaneously
·  • Experience with Wi-Fi (802.11.x), 802.15.4 (ZigBee),BLE, LoRa, LTE Cat M1, Multi Band GNSS, and NFC hardware design
·  • Experience with CAN bus, UART,RS485, I2C, and SPI communication hardware designs
·  • Experience with sensor-systems and IoT edge-computing hardware
·  • Experience design for manufacturability (DFM) & Design for test (DFT)
·  • Experience with any one of the CE, UL, FCC, RTCA/DO-160 regulatory bodies and requirements
·  • Proficient with hands-on experience in using OrCAD or Altium Designer schematics capture and PCB layout
·  • Extensive knowledge and experience in for high frequency, mixed signal PCBA design for high volume electronics assemblies integrating multi-core embedded microprocessor subsystems and wireless transceivers
