About this role:
The Sr. Software Distribution Technician will be part of a team that provides 3rd level support on workstations and laptops along with deploying all windows security and application updates. These deployments will be distributed to desktops, laptops and servers in a wide and diverse range of environments. He/She must have experience supporting workstations and/or servers.
The Sr. Software Distribution Technician will possess a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics or related field and/or the equivalent in education and work experience including 1+ years of experience with testing, deploying, and troubleshooting Windows applications in multi-tier environments. Candidate must have a firm understanding of the system development lifecycle (ALM), testing methodologies as well as good troubleshooting and analytical capabilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Candidate must have very good technical, planning, organizational, decision making, and problem solving skills. Candidate must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
The Sr. Software Distribution Technician provides support for UPS Logistics and Operations Applications. This position also assists in the application setups for new, changing, and Peak facilities. They troubleshoot application problems within established procedures and recommend process improvements. This individual will communicate regularly with field personnel, corporate support groups, and application development teams, building working relationships with them. Responsibilities include deployment support, installation testing, working with both Defect Reports and HDFS Cases, diagnosing and resolving problems, and, if necessary, escalating the problem to the appropriate level of expertise. On-call, on-site night/weekend support is required based on business need. Experience with Field Operations Applications is preferred.
