JOB TITLE: Assistant Business Development Manager, French Islands

JOB LOCATION: Singapore

BUSINESS CONTEXT:

Unilever International (UI) is an alternative but complimentary route to market, servicing white space opportunities not exploited by local operating countries. It is a global business unit with 9 hubs (Singapore, US, UK, Korea, India, Dubai, France, the Philippines and Australia) with a diverse range of products, with expertise in utilizing 3rd party distributors and consolidators to reach consumers in over 75 countries.

UI have been operating successfully as an alternate Route to Market (RTM) to complement Multi-Country Organizations (MCOs) to serve these white spaces through a network of 500+ market expansion service providers and specialists via seeding initiatives. The market expansion providers or distributors in countries provide brand building and customer development services to UI under the agreed operating frameworks using the brand toolkits provided. UI have strategically evolved its portfolio from availability led growth to seeding in the last 5 years.

ABOUT BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT IN UI:

· We build market positions in white spaces by identify new opportunities, developing, defining, negotiating and nurturing strong business relationships. We own the business’ P&L end-to-end, partner with customers, distributors and internal cross-functional teams to manage and grow existing businesses, to deliver growth through flawless execution of projects.

THE ROLE IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE:

· You’ll be responsible for identifying potential whitespace opportunities, collaborating with distributors to execute market entry and launching products in New Caledonia and French Polynesia;
· You’ll be responsible for brand building & development in New Caledonia and French Polynesia and the end-to-end P&L of various seeding initiatives in UI.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Prospecting

· Leading, mapping and developing business and seeding opportunities in New Caledonia and French Polynesia through data and insight activation from idea to launch
· Screening and recommending potential businesses through market analysis, deal requirements, potential and financial analysis
· Conducting end-to-end market opportunity assessment with customers

Customer Selection and Appointment

· Conducting comprehensive research and checks to identify suitable business distributors

Establishing and Executing Business Plans

· Developing and managing business plans internally and externally, to craft end-to-end launch plans to drive route-to-market for new product development (NPD)
· Establishing networks for new product launches with supply chain team and alignment with Category team on launches

Tracking and Monitoring Performance

· Tracking and managing of key business metrics and KPIs across marketing and trade activities
· Conducting reviews on broad spectrum of topics

Stakeholder Management

· Leading and aligning cross functional teams to effectively manage projects
· Collaborating with France OpCo (where required) for synergies

Key Interfaces:

· UI Business Development, Finance, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams
· External distributors

YOU’LL MANANAGE AND TRAVEL:

· Support delivery of French islands annual plan target.
· Build distributor capabilities in route to market for key markets (New Caledonia & French Polynesia)
· Help build distributor management process.
· Support team for delivery of business targets
· Manage distributor partners in geographies.
· Oversee development of sales operations processes.
· Oversee route to market capability development and execution in key markets.

RELEVANT SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in Customer Development in FMCG industry – preferably in key account management and/or marketing
· Experience in international trade and capability building
· Experience working in cross-functional teams within a matrix environment both F2F and virtually
· A bachelor’s degree in any discipline
· Be a strategic, highly adaptable and entrepreneurial person
· Embrace a high growth mindset, with strong love for consumers, shoppers and customers
· Have strong financial acumen and analytical skills
· Have strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills with senior stakeholders
· Have experience working and leading in cross-functional teams
