Junior Gameplay Developer

Job description

Ubisoft Halifax is looking for a new addition to our Programming Team! As a Junior Gameplay Developer, you will work closely with our game team to implement and maintain new game features, third party SDKs and gameplay-related systems.

Our Studio is looking for an enthusiastic developer who loves games as much as the technology that drives them. This person will integrate their demonstrated track record of curiosity, ingenuity, and personal development into a small, diverse and close-knit team where a good sense of humour and a positive attitude is extremely important.

Key Responsibilities

·  Meeting time commitments to develop and/or optimize gameplay features on mobile projects within Unity. 
·  Designing and implementing efficient and maintainable code in C#.
·  Inspecting, improving and maintaining legacy code and systems.
·  Communicating implementation decisions both verbally and in documentations to key stakeholders. 
·  Implementing game features, building prototypes and implementing new design concepts for internal testing;
·  Effectively recognize and prioritize tasks that require immediate attention throughout the development cycle.
·  Demonstrable skills using Unity to develop on both Android and iOS platfroms;
·  Experience working with Unity animations and models in 3D Space.
·  A strong familiarity with Object-Oriented skills and proficiency in C# programming;
·  A demonstrated ability with building and deploying an application from Code to Device on mobile platforms.
·  The ability to work autonomously as well as within a team. 
·  Excellent written and oral communication skills.
·  A demonstrated interest in self-improvement, skill development and the ability to take direction while working within a team. 
·  The ability to Install and work with third-party SDK's and packages within Unity. 

Experience and Educational Requirements

·  A BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent;
·  Ideally, at least one year of working experience with software/game development. 

Bonus Qualifications

·  Shipped a game, app or demo on iOS or Android
·  Any direct experience working within the Games Industry alongside a team. 
·  Experience in cross-platform development.
·  Experience maintaining code performance through profiling and optimization.
·  Scripting Languages (LUA, Python, etc.).

Studio Description

Our studio is located in the heart of the city (Halifax) within the historic and iconic Keith's Brewery Market. The Halifax Harbour is in view from our windows and lunch breaks can be spent on the boardwalk or at one of the many resturants and cafes that populate the downtown core. The studio culture is dynamic and cooperative, with communication between teams and an emphasis on team-building!
