Job Description

Reporting to the Lead Subsea & Wellhead Engineer, the Subsea & Wellhead Surface Engineer will provide technical expertise to all assets withing TEPUK on Subsea & Surface wellhead and xmas tree systems and associated installation, intervention and work over activities.

This job position is assessed as 'Safety Critical', with a direct impact on production and well availability.

Candidate profile

·  The job holder should be educated to degree level, or to HNC or equivalent, via qualified industry training and demonstrate high level of technical knowledge in the Subsea & Surface area with extensive experience in offshore drilling & wells operations.
·  The job holder should have good working knowledge of internal and external rules, standards and procedures in the fluids and environmental areas, and be trained to level appropriate to statutory regulations.
·  Planning, management and negotiation skills should be clearly demonstrable.
·  Candidate shall preferably have an engineering background with a equipment supplier and be experienced in design, qualification, API 6A /17D / 17G and have a good knowledge of associated offshore operations. Rig / equipment interfacing  will play a key part during pre-job planning and preparation phase. 
·  Candidate shall be familiar in Contract management and negotiation and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Context and environment

·  Demonstrate personal commitment to TEPUK SHEI&S Polices (Safety, Health, Environment, Integrity & Security).

·  Cover as focal point to Drilling Supt when required during operational phases
·  Positively participate as a technical expert in all topics associated with the installation, operation and maintenance of surface wellhead & xmas tree systems.

·  Subsea Engineering:
·  Manage the VXT system tolerance studies, interfacing the Tubing Hanger Running Tool Landing Strings to rig BOP systems;
·  Develop system installation optimisation methodologies to ensure time efficient operations;
·  Oversee the selection or Subsea Support services to operations – alternative equipment from non OEM vendors;
·  Assist Completions / Welltest engineers with BOP / Landing String spaceouts for DST / Welltest landing strings.
·  Preparation and supervision of the Subsea operations including:
·  Support Drilling Team Leader during rig selection activites;
·  Interface Engineering with selected rig contractor;
·  Plan, prepare and provide onshore support for the offshore activites;
·  Ensure completeness of the well handover (subsea section);
·  Contribute to end of well report;
·  Mobilise, demobilise, maintain and preserve the TEPUK owned equipment.
·  Manage the Subsea OEM provider.
·  Surface Engineering:
·  Support the Senior Wellhead Engineer with equipment failure investigations
·  Provide system engineering and product design support to TS departments (QA/QC, C&P);
·  Oversee the preparation of tooling and equipment taking into account rig interfaces for Drill Pipe x-over and BOP/Riser spaceouts;
·  Maintain in a state of readiness the subsea intervention equipment.
·  Ensure that adequate human and technical resources are available at the worksite to allow safe operations.
·  Prepare and maintain up to date subsea operations procedures.
·  Ensuring any hazard or incidents are reported immediately in accordance with Company procedure.
·  Ensure that contractor selection is carried out in accordance with Company requirements and that safety and environmental assessments are part of the selection process.
·  Assist in the preparation and follow up of the subsea and wellhead operations budget. Develop and submit costing/budgets of specific jobs or parts of large jobs.
·  Implementation of Lessons Learned from both onshore and offshore activities.
·  Supervise contractors work when required.
·  Coordinate the specification and selection of new Wellhead and Xmas Tree equipment (surface & subsea), respecting QA/QC requirements.
·  Conduct QA/QC audit of contractors.
·  Investigate on any Subsea well abnormal behaviour; propose remedial actions to maintain well availability and safety.
·  Review technical studies. Comment/make recommendations.
