Principal Purpose of the Position:

Working as part of the Thales Alenia Space UK Propulsion Engineering Team:

· Lead project technical teams for the delivery of propulsion systems, with a strong systems engineering approach
· To provide Systems Engineering impact to future developments and continuous improvement of our products, systems and processes.
· This will involve, but is not limited to;
· The establishment of propulsion equipment selection and technical follow-up with suppliers, propulsion subsystem development and qualification/acceptance test plan.
· Planning and updating assembly, integration, test and verification schemes within the programme in cooperation with Program Management Office and other subsystems (Attitude Control, Data Handling, Electrical power , structure and thermal control).
· Establishing integration and test processes and requirements for test plans, test procedures at subsystem level

Key Responsibilities and tasks

· Provide Systems Engineering impact for the successful delivery of propulsion engineering aspects of TAS UK contracts
· To provide Systems Engineering impact to future developments and continuous improvement of our products, systems
· Establish equipment Technical Requirement Definition.
· Deliver technical documents for proposals and reviews.
· Technical expertise for follow up of equipment development and deliveries.
· Respond to customer technical queries and actions from meetings/reviews
· Manage and coordinate multiple system/subsystem engineering tasks with support from technical experts
· The job holder will be required to perform ad-hoc additional duties that will arise from time to time that are consistent with the nature of this managerial position.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience;

· Degree level qualification in a discipline associated with Systems Engineering (such as aerospace engineering) or related (such as physics, …)
· Professional certification from a relevant Professional Institution is desirable (such as The Institution of Mechanical Engineering.)
· Experience in the Space sector is not essential – candidates from similar engineering sectors are encouraged to apply.
A demonstrable positive performance record in the following activities;

· System engineering for complex hardware systems, in a project delivery context is important – with an ability to work with the propulsion equipment specialists to ensure delivery of the overall system
· Application of effective systems engineering knowledge – across the “Systems V” – to achieve critical project outcomes to time, cost and quality.
· Sub-system design and analysis, including; specification and technical follow-up of constituent equipment.
· Practical engineering impact in system or subsystem development and delivery programmes.
· The practical application of engineering requirements tools such as “DOORS'
· Communication and influencing skills to build productive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
· A working knowledge of government / institutional contractual rules and forms is desirable
· While specific knowledge of the French and Italian languages is not a prerequisite for this position it would be advantageous to facilitate activities across the TAS JV organisation.
