Thales is investigating virtual realirt technology for possible use in its products. Social virtual world technology was started by Linden labs in the VS around 2004 and resulted in the well-known application second life. Thales uses an open source version of the same technology called OpenSim. This 3D Virtual Reality technology is targeted for virtual training , virtual meetings , remote control and decision support. In the virtual world behavior is scripted using the Linden Script Language (LSL). In open source there is a very good editor to support creation and testing of these scripts outside the virtual world ::: the LSL editor. However OpenSim introduces its own scripts primitives besides the LSL ones that are not supported in the LSL editor. Also it would be nice to have an include option in the script to allow reuse of script code.

Assignment


Extend the VR LSL editor with OpenSim primitives and reuse of script parts of existing scripts

The Assignment here is to update the existing LSL editor with :

· The Opensim primitives. The LSL editor should recognize and emulate the Opensim primitives.

· A mechanism to import existing pieces of script, this means an include mechanism to include parts of other scripts in to the current script in the LSL editor.
