We are currently looking for a Project RAMS Engineer to join the Thales TTSI team in Pittsburgh, PA.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Safety:

· Prepare and execute project safety plans in line with all contractual commitments and Thales internal minimum requirements. Prepare work packages for project management.
· Identify safety requirements through:

o Evaluation of design through various hazard and failure mode analyses;

o Identification and evaluation of operational hazards.

· Hazard analyses comprise the following:

o Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), System Hazard Analyses (SHA), Interface Hazard Analysis (IHA), Operating & Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Sub-System Hazard Analysis (SSHA), functional Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA).

· Establish and manage until handover to customer the project Hazard Log (HLOG). This implies closure of hazards as sufficient evidences are recorded and exporting control measures as necessary.
· Verify safety of both hardware and software by performing Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) including quantification.
· Assure compliance of system, software design and operational procedures with safety requirements. Evaluate trade-off within the design choices.
· Help define, and support implementation of, processes and practices, to design, integrate, verify and validate the developed software in line with the CENELEC standard.
· Accountable for performing work within budget and schedule requirements for the project or team, and identification of resource problems.

RAM

· Review and assess RAM contractual requirements and prepare hour estimates for project.
· Prepare and execute project RAM plans in line with all contractual commitments and Thales internal minimum requirements, and prepare work package agreements for project management.
· Perform Reliability Analysis for projects using various standards of reliability prediction [MIL-STD-217F, 217Plus, FIDES, etc.] and creation of a Reliability Analysis report. Perform Maintainability Analysis for projects using MIL-HDBK-470A, time studies, etc. and creation of a Maintainability Analysis report.
· Perform Availability Analysis for project using Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs), derivation of X out of Y formulae, and creation of Availability Analysis report.
· Perform Spares Analysis using statistical methods and creation of Spares Analysis report. Spares Analysis may also include maximizing system availability based on customer spares budget.

Job Requirements and Essential Skills:

· Domestic and occasional international travel (up to 40%).
· Detailed knowledge of system requirements definition/design, safety and risk analysis.
· Detailed knowledge of CENELEC and AREMA standards.
· Detailed knowledge of standards and processes applicable to the development of safety critical software.
· Familiarity with military standards.
· Knowledge of railway systems is an asset.
· Computer skills: MS Office, DOORS, Modelling, Databases, Reliability Prediction Software [PTC Windchill, RAM Commander, etc.]

Education and Experience:

· B. Sc Electrical Engineering, Comp Science or equivalent.
· 4+ years train control experience and/or automatic control in other industry.
· 2+ years of Safety Engineering experience.
