Job description

You will be joining a large procurement function across Thales UK which consists of around 200 procurement professionals. This role sits within the Procurement Leadership Team and will report to the Chief Procurement Officer of Thales UK.

As the Procurement Director, the primary focus is managing the Indirect and IT category teams in conjunction with the Group changes and the improvement of operational procurement activities. You will be driving excellence throughout the function and will be responsible for developing and leading the strategic procurement activities for Information Technology spend categories such as Hardware and Network Equipment along with other indirect categories.

Your Key responsibilities

· Work collaboratively at country and group level to optimise synergies and opportunities across Thales UK.
· Set and meet the Functional Budget.
· Drive change and transformation to further enhance Thales as a leader within our markets.
· Master the interfaces to Integrated Business Planning (IBP), while optimising workload planning.
· Develop category strategies, developing sourcing options, cost benchmarking, developing commercial models, contract drafting, KPI models & facilitating major/complex tender processes.
· Create, and where relevant negotiate and manage, appropriate contractual frameworks as required, ensuring risk and liabilities arising from programmes are flowed down through the supply chain.
· Ensure appropriate Supplier Relationship Management and Performance Management techniques to improve performance, mitigate risk and capture innovation from suppliers.
· Target and drive Procurement savings across all bids and projects, reporting back into the business and validating same with Finance, Bids and Programmes functions.
· Run competitiveness reviews in order to identify risk and opportunity in the application of Procurement policies for bids and projects.
· Ensure relevant governance is complied with, including Delegation Of Authority, Acquisition Log process and Purchase Order approval
· Work in accordance with all business governance processes as laid out in Chorus.

Your skills and experience

· Track record of translating a strategic business vision into a tangible delivery of necessary Procurement and supply chain capability both domestically and worldwide.
· Excellent stakeholder management expertise at senior levels within an international organisation.
· Interpersonal skills to optimise cross organisation working and to work effectively with suppliers and the global business community.
· Ability to manage a multi-million annual spend, while delivering effective cost saving initiatives.
· Use of Supplier Relationship and Performance Management techniques and measurements.
· Technical and Supply Market knowledge within IT Hardware, Networking and Indirect Categories.
· Track record of delivering on business needs in a challenging commercial environment.
· Demonstrable experience of team management, leadership and team development.
· Ideally CIPS or MCIPS qualified or be willing to obtain
· Ideally Business Degree qualified or equivalent
· High standards of numeracy and literacy.
