Engineering Quality Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Defence Mission Systems (DMS), specifically our Maritime Mission Systems (MMS) business as part of a dedicated team of quality professionals. This role has responsible for the implementation of the Quality Assurance function within the disciplines of Systems Engineering; Hardware and Software, to support the implementation of the Thales Quality policy within the Business. Ultimately, the Engineering Quality Engineer shall support the Business to deliver products and services that are fit for purpose and meet customer requirements. This role would be ideal for a self-motivated quality professional who is committed to driving forward change and is passionate about continuous business improvement.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

· Provide timely independent assessment of lifecycle design review inputs, entry and exit criteria
· Define and approve tailoring of the Quality and Engineering policies in Engineering Management and Quality Plans
· Provide independent authority during validation/verification activities
· Conduct regular analysis of Engineering data/metrics and initiate improvement as applicable
· Interface with other Quality functions to ensure the implementation of best practice
· Identify, develop and implement continuous and business improvements opportunities that contribute to the engineering objectives and the strategic business performance plan
· Systematically perform quality audits and surveillance activities in accordance with the company Reference system and contract and regulatory requirements
· Promote and support the achievement of quality within the business, ensuring that all managers and staff are utilising the group reference system (Chorus) and the specifics as relevant to the engineering discipline and their roles and responsibility in its operation
· Govern and sentence delivery documentation specific to the engineering delivery

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

· Experience in a related engineering and/or quality environment with participation in change management
· Background in mechanical engineering would be an advantage
· Proven capability in auditing and process development
