PRESENTATION OF THE ACTIVITY OF THE REQUESTING DEPARTMENT

The training will take place in the DIT Department (Development, Industrialization, Analysis and Tests in Space Environment).

Our Department is in charge to develop electronic units, antennae and payloads for satellites.

Among the environmental constraints, thermal is one of the major driver for space activities.

SUBJECT DESCRIPTION

Introduction of highly dissipating and very concentrated RF functions on poor thermal conductive substrate as PCB (printed circuit boards), leads to strong thermal constraints on our electronic units developments and constitute an actual challenge to manage.

This 2017 activity is the continuation of a previous 2016 training on this topic, focused on the definition and test of thermal and packaging solutions, looking for the technical and industrial (cost) best compromise.

The trainee main missions shall be:

· To identify the most suitable thermal and industrial solutions on the basis of 2016 previous activity achievements (Copper inserts, external heat sinks, …)
· To design and procure elementary test vehicles based on most promising solutions.

To evaluate by tests these solutions and draw up a synthesis report including tests results and associated recommendations.
