The Role

We are looking for a motivated individual to join the vehicle-level firmware validation team. The responsibility of this team is to validate all high-level vehicle firmware with a focus on both functional testing and vehicle safety. Tesla’s firmware extends to a diverse set of components, reaching into powertrain / battery management, motor torque control and supervision, high-power charging management, and drive safety. Firmware features are rapidly added to the vehicle scope, and the validation engineer is responsible for ensuring the test scope scales accordingly. The team must maintain a strong interaction with all other development and validation engineering teams to create the best possible understanding of our product.

Responsibilities

·  Design behavioral models of the vehicle firmware. Run tests intelligently against these models
·  Execute against test requirements and document results in a manner which conforms with the organization
·  Simulate interactions with various ECUs via CAN and Ethernet bus
·  Handle bus interface tools (such as Vector or PCAN)
·  Invent tools for data analysis (e.g. MATLab, Python, etc.)
·  Interact with all levels of engineering to gather the fullest understanding of system behaviors
·  Promote and protect Tesla’s reputation as a cutting-edge company producing the world’s most exciting cars

Desired profile

Requirements

·  BS Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent required
·  Minimum 2 years in a Test Engineering role
·  Experience with python
·  Automotive or green energy background a plus
