RESPONSIBILITIES:
DIRECT REPORTS: None
INDIRECT REPORTS: Drafters and Designers (numbers vary depending on business activity), performing the detail design and drafting. Daily interface with internal facility personnel; particularly Project Management, Procurement and Test for information exchange, and like contacts with customers and vendors/suppliers.
INTERPERSONAL/COMMUNICATIONS:
Ā· Operates within local organization & accomplishes work with limited consultation.
Ā· Consults with other local & Divisional sources as required.
Ā· Participates as a team member & communicates information to appropriate parties at the appropriate time.
Ā· Has some customer contact, usually with supervision. Makes presentations.
Ā· Begins to develop relationships with customer technical or service personnel.
Ā· Encourages candid feedback from all directions. Is receptive to critical comments; actively seeks out diverse perspectives.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
Ā· PRODUCE SYSTEM MANUFACTURING DOCUMENTS: 1. Review, interpret & implement customer specs. 2. Produce design diagrams and calculations. 3. Create drawing list. 4. Prepare material requisitions. 5. Prepare system bills of material. 6. Finalize design details. 7. Maintain schedule. 8. Maintain cost to complete. 9. Interface with project manager, Q.A. and Test, manufacturing, Purchasing.
Ā· PRODUCE SYSTEM QUOTATIONS: 1. Review specifications. 2. Produce sketches. 3. Quote hours required.
Ā· PRODUCE ACCURATE WORK: 1. Check and cross-check output for conformance to requirements without excessive labor or material requirements.
Ā· SUPERVISION: Make efficient use of designers and drafters for completion of above.
Ā· CODE FAMILIARITY: Must be familiar with API manual of petroleum measurement standards.1. ANSI B31.3/4/8. 2. ASME Boiler and Pressure vessel code. 3. AWS D1.1.4. NACE MRO1-75.).
MAIN TASKS:
Responsible for performing āthe PROJECT'S engineeringā within project budget.
Problem Solving:
Ā· Problems involve existing technology or applications, but may involve non-recurring problems.
Ā· Conducts analysis, ensures that designs are workable, makes recommendations & develops alternative solutions with conclusions reviewed by higher levels.
Ā· Uses independent judgment in determining how to approach/solve problems.
Ā· Demonstrates some capability for conceptualizing designs.
Ā· Shows evidence of good organization skills.
Ā· Accountability:
Ā· Receives general instructions for routine projects & detailed instructions for more complex projects.
Ā· Receives some guidance on process & timing.
Ā· Demonstrates solid understanding of policies & procedures that apply to assignments.
Ā· Progress & results receive general versus detailed review.
Ā· Creates & reviews, designs, drawings, DBI's, specifications, etc. & ensures that projects meet specifications, standards & performance requirements within area of expertise.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ā· BS Engineering, plus 4-7 years relevant experience in specialized area or product line(s), or MS Engineering, plus 3-5 years' experience; or Entry level PhD Engineering.
Ā· Detailed knowledge of at least one TechnipFMC product line & general knowledge of several lines. Some knowledge of systems.
Ā· Demonstrated ability to independently create functional & cost effective designs/processes that meet complex specification requirements. Knowledge of PC, Windows Office Software.
Ā· Basic knowledge of competing & alternative technologies.
Ā· General understanding of internal economic factors affecting assignment areas (costs, margins, profit impact of decisions).
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Spends the majority of work time in a temperature-controlled environment. Upon occasion may be called to go into the field where person's expertise is required. In the latter case may be exposed to possible hazards including high noise, heavy machinery, and inclement weather ā where safety equipment is required. May be called upon for domestic and international travel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent sitting and operating a computer and communicating with customers and vendors/suppliers. When it is necessary to go into the field, walking, standing, and climbing (onto equipment) may/can be experienced.
