DEPARTMENT:

Reports to the Manager/Supervisor, in the Western Region Subsea Drilling Organizational Unit in Houston, Texas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans, schedules, monitors, executes and controls key support functions, manufacturing sources and suppliers to meet scheduled shipments in a quality and cost effective manner. Monitors and schedules the flow of materials, components, assemblies, and inventory. Performs detailed inventory analyses and addresses problems in an effort to keep system data accuracy high, excess inventory minimized, and manufacturing plans on schedule.

Ā· Works without regular direct supervision.

Ā· Conducts broad-scope inventory analyses, and able to make decisions based on such analyses.

Ā· Executes global inventory (Drilling Tools and Consumables) carrying, usage, and planning decisions based on own research and decision-making.

Ā· Adapts quickly to perform other roles within the Drilling Rental Group with little instruction and oversight.

Ā· Regularly interfaces with Materials department, Warehouse, Asset Team, Engineering, and Project teams when making decisions requiring judgment or resolving issues requiring creative solutions.

Ā· Makes assessments about global supply/demand issues, recommends thorough solutions, and takes initiatives to address issues.

Ā· Performs analyses on processes related or including Materials Planning activities, and recommends and implement process changes to improve results.

Ā· Gives direction to project teams on proper execution of sales.

Ā· Support local and International Material requests.

MAIN TASKS:

Ā· Initiates manufacturing sales orders/ service order for entry into the ERP system.

Ā· Determines the sources of the components (to make or to buy) per current Houston operation sourcing strategy and enters into the system to notify manufacturing and purchasing of project demands.

Ā· Enters and releases milestone sales orders at the direction of the Project Manager.

Ā· Maintains sales order/ service order due dates based on the project needs and forecasted demand.

Ā· Reports manufacturing status to the Project Team.

Ā· Monitors the flow of inventory through assigned projects.

Ā· Avoids creation of excess inventory and makes recommendations for substitutions, where possible, to use and to reduce existing inventory.

Ā· Performs and documents inventory impact review at project closings.

Ā· Maintains and updates the manufacturing execution plan for assigned products to ensure that parts are produced or purchased as needed and in the proper sequence.

Ā· Handle multiple project plans simultaneously.

Ā· Monitors the flow of inventory throughout projects.

Ā· Avoids creation of excess inventory and makes substitutions where possible to use and to reduce existing inventory.

Ā· Coordinates with Engineering Class 1 & 2 ECN's as they affect inventory and schedules.

Ā· Generally assists manufacturing areas in prioritization efforts.

Ā· Analyzes supply and demand of inventory and long-lead parts and takes corrective actions as needed to alleviate schedule impacts or excess inventory.

Ā· Analyses inventory for supply/demand mismatches, takes appropriate action to correct.

Ā· Analyzes and corrects excess supply orders in the ERP system.

Ā· Makes recommendations to Management of system improvements to support functional areas.

Ā· Reviews Excess Inventory of Project and Non-Project parts, recommends actions to be taken.

REQUIREMENTS:

Ā· BS in related field preferred, or equivalent years of experience.

Ā· Generally 8+ years of work experience performing inventory analysis, supply/demand analysis and reconciliation, and/or manufacturing scheduling in materials planning, scheduling, production control or procurement with working knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.

Ā· Thorough knowledge of typical procurement and manufacturing processes, as well as a thorough understanding of typical ERP system capabilities, inputs, and outputs.

Ā· Ability to perform detailed supply/demand analysis, trouble-shoot ERP and production system inconsistencies.

Ā· Complete understanding of Engineering and manufacturing bills of materials and drawings, BOM structures, and supply/demand information related to sales order (independent) demands.

Ā· Understands system shortage reports and accurately ascertain critical path issues preventing make-parts from being manufactured.

Ā· Demonstrates strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and strong negotiation skills in order to interact with suppliers and co-workers.

Ā· Demonstrates leadership ability.

Ā· Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high volume environment while meeting customer delivery dates.

Ā· Strong PC skills, including proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing applications and a functional knowledge of databases such as MS Access.

Ā· MANMAN, SAP, or similar ERP & MRP II systems experience and knowledge.

Ā· Understands machining and manufacturing processes. Technical or engineering experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment with trips to other offices on campus. Some exposure to possible shop hazards including high noise, heavy machinery and shop traffic. Fast paced environment with repetitive transactions. Multiple priorities and constant change.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Some walking and standing in machine, weld, and assembly shop. Frequent sitting and operating PC.
