The Machinist III uses CNC machining equipment to develop and create machining processes, fixturing and tooling, as required. Our Machinist III applies an advanced understanding of overall machining practices and a strong background in machining applications and development. Additionally, the Machinist II will work with their Lead to help coach and mentor other machinists and operators. They will be required to set up and operate numerically controlled equipment to perform machining operations as well as adapt and improvise complex tooling and fixtures to complete machining assignments. The materials used consist of castings, forgings, tubing, bar stock, extrusions, steel, stainless steel, titanium, brass aluminum and copper.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Setup and operate one or more of the following machines; CNC lathe, CNC mill, horizontal mill and various secondary equipment
• Reviews and understands blue prints to develop the appropriate manufacturing process.
• Set up and operate multiple machines at once
• Perform in process inspection, using micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, or other measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications
• Work in a professional, team oriented environment providing input to engineers and peers on design and machinability options and ideas
• Assist the Lead in coaching and mentoring machinists and operators and provide technical guidance as needed.
• Develop, design and modify fixtures and tooling for effectiveness and accuracy of machining assignments
• Perform daily/weekly machine maintenance

REQUIREMENTS:
• 7+ years of experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, with a variety of levels within the organization
• Ability to coach and train operators and machinists
• Advanced knowledge of machine programming
• Setup and production experience in close tolerance machined components
• Advanced understanding of tool geometry/ application/ speeds and feeds
• Intermediate knowledge of GD&T
• Experience with Mazak, Mori Seiki, and Haas CNC equipment
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
• Ability to work overtime as required
• Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, with a variety of levels within the organization
• Ability to contribute to a positive work environment while adhering to the company's policies and procedures
• Adhere to the Company core values to protect the environment and the health and safety of employees

Spends 95% of the time in a manufacturing/shop environment and 5% in an office environment. Will be exposed to possible hazards including working with high-pressure equipment, working in confined spaces, high noise, inclement weather, chemicals, pressure testing, heavy lift operations and shop/field traffic.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Describe amount & frequency of physical requirements of the position (i.e. lifting, pushing, climbing)
Frequent walking, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing upward, crawling in confined workspaces and lifting daily.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, listen and speak for long periods of time.
• Manual dexterity using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, and lift.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Regular, repetitive arm/hand motion
• Work on concrete floors, wearing steel toes boots up to 10+ hours a day.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes)
